I just keep coming back to this mountain over and over again. The third peak is well worth it if you are not intimidated by heights.

I forget the exact date. Flying into Oahu for a conference, this peak called out to be climbed. I was happy to find that there was an established (and as it turns out quite exciting) route to the top.

Beautiful climb up the standard route. The clay and rocky class 3 sections were interesting. The summit is amazing, didn't make it to the other two summits.

Rode a rusty bike from the parents house out there, and had to leave it at the country club gate. Through rain up into fog to the first summit. Down and up to the second, boy are the rocks slippery when wet! Fairly new ropes are installed to get down from the second summit to the third. After bonking my head on a tree I headed up the third summit, which felt like a real alpine climb! The clouds parted slightly, revealing an imposing ridge. Later, the clouds lifted even more, showing how far down the ground was! Despite the weather, it was a lot of fun.

What a fun climb! The views were just amazing. Dry conditions made the trail and the rock sections easier. Did not traverse to the third summit because of time constraints.

Fun! This short, steep climb is definitely a highlight on Oahu. Highly recommended. The difficulty keeps the tourists away. The scrambling was really enjoyable.

What an awesome postcard view of Oahu! I badgered a friend to follow me up this spine of a mountain and we made the first peak to find winds gusting around 17mph. Trail was fairly slick since the couple of weeks' worth of rain hadn't soak in yet but the rock scrambling went well considering in some sections if you slip you will definitely have a quick trip straight down! Slight fear factor for the inexperienced. A very beautiful hike.

This was only the fourth hike I've done with my brother Norm in the past 10 years or so. The other three were the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (a nice adventure), Katahdin, and the Beehive Trail at Acadia. On Katahdin, we turned around when we ran into 60 mph winds on an exposed class 3 ridge (and then drove to Bar Harbor to eat lobster). This time, we didn't have any wind, but my brother was giving me that "are you crazy" look again when he saw the class 3 rock and the rope just below the summit. We made it up to the first/highest summit but didn't continue to the second and third peaks due to a late start and the rain. After returning to Honolulu for a much needed shower and change of clothes, we headed out to Todai for an awesome all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet - lots of sushi and everything else!
