kavakFrom Mt Neva  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 26, 1992

After doing the route to Mt Neva from Arapahoe Pass it was an easy stroll to Mt Jasper. The harder part was the downclimb back into the valley.

From the 4th of July Trailhead. A fantastic scramble loop. Beautiful views of lakes and peaks everywhere you look, and some cool stuff to discover along the way. Hardly anyone else around above 11000 feet.

Did Jasper as part as a long loop hike from Neva to Skyscraper after going up Juliet on Neva. Awesome day!

Climbed the northeast slopes coming from Neva. These two mountains offer great climbing and guarantee an amazing experience.

Came over from Mount Neva. Great little summit. Descended the East Ridge and ended up with a bit of a bushwhach to Diamond Lakes.

GahugafugaNE Ridge Alternate  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 14, 2006

Climbed the NE Ridge w/ Gurlyclimber via a slightly different route. Found a moderate snow chute along the north face of the ridge below UN 12047 that provided moderately exhausting passage to the ridge crest. From there it was easy scrambling straight up the ridge (except for one bizarre 5th class move) to the summit. The descent was a different story altogether, descending the icy snowfields of the NE slopes route. Ended up putting on crampons to descend, which I hate doing, but it was the only way to get traction on some sections. Made it to the unnamed lake as a snow squall moved in. Perfect time to be getting below treeline!

I was very impressed with this climb. The recent snow made it interesting, leading to a mix of all kinds of scrambling, from 3rd class rock moves to moderate snow climbing. combined with getting lost on the bushwack in, this route was tons of fun. we descended to the base of neva and then climbed over to arapaho pass to finish with a nice tour of the area.

Total ascents = 2. Second time via the East ridge ... good route finding problems to keep it 3rd class.

Incredible scramble-fest! We started at the 4th of July TH, hiked to the North Ridge, scrambled to Neva, hiked to Jasper, scrambled Jasper's Northeast Ridge to Points 12068 and 12047, and glissaded down to the unnamed lake at 11550. We stuck very close to the ridge which made for many 4th - low 5th class sections. This is a great scramble route circling a beautiful basin with lots of time above or near 12000 feet.

This climb was great. A little steep, but a great climb. Beware postholing through the valley in June. Sometimes the trail is faster.

Nice climb. Jasper doesn't look like it sees much traffic, but it's a good hike, and close enough to Neva to make for an easy 2nd summit.

JonBradfordRoute Climbed: Storm Gulch (along with Mount Neva) Date Climbed: September 7, 2003  Sucess!

Jasper is an archtypal Indian Peaks summit. It is beautiful and fun. The Storm Gulch approach tours what must be one of the most beautiful drainages in the Front Range. If you like waterfalls this is the place for you! Jasper combines well with Mount Neva. Dogs Sopris and Raymond were along with me...

I reached the TH at 10:30 a.m. I have never started a climb this late in the morning but it ended up working out great. Jasper Peak is a great mountain, it is a complex mountain with many long ridges extending out from its double summit. All of these ridges provide for moderate snow climbs in the spring. If you want a hike that will get you away from it all- try Jasper it won't dissapoint you.

A nice moderate snow climb on the south east side of Jasper that tops out very close to the summit. We we climbed it in early June (when Colorado still had snow in June) a big slide had come down within the past few days. Use good judgement before heading up, just like any other climb!
