A really smooth solo adventure with great weather. Wind on the summit made the exposure a little interesting. Saw some Deer above treeline but no other people.

Date Climbed: Jun 25, 1986

We walked on the divide and did "Golden Bear" as well. It was a good snow year so I was able to glissade a 800 feet down its south side. We walked out via Dry Gulch using a car shuttle.

Date Climbed: Jun 1, 2008

Climbed solo via Trelease and "Golden Bear". Decided not to continue on to Citadel as I saw about 13 people qeued up to go up its summit block! Had Hagar's summit to myself. Still plenty of snow in the area.

Date Climbed: Jun 30, 2007

CMC hike. Despite two very steep sections, I seemed to have little trouble on this hike. There was one person in the group who hadn't acclimated, so she didn't make the summit. On the way back, we traversed along the ridge between Coon Hill and the Grand/Summit/Clear Creek triple junction for awhile, then we glissaded down a few remaining snowfields, back into the valley. Weather was great, it looked like the afternoon storms gave us a miss this time.

GahugafugaS Face Ski Descent  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 10, 2007

I climbed the chute directly beneath the summit block w/ crzyjt. I hit a saddle just left of the summit, so I dry-tooled my way up the class 3 part. Granite + crampons = no more black paint, but that just makes my crampons look all the more bad ass. 9AM descent was perfectly timed given the light freeze. 1000' of tasty corn snow. That face sure does like to avalanche.

shknbkesouth ridge from Eisenhower tunnel  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 14, 2007

There was still a lot of snow in the basin that we went up from Eisenhower Tunnel, but it was well consolidated. Hit the divide just south of the summit of "Golden Bear" and traversed over to Hagar. Exciting summit block, especially with deep drifts!

COTrekker02Fun Skiing on Warm March Day!
Date Climbed: Mar 14, 2007

Not successful in terms of tagging the summit, but had a great time. Skinned up Dry Gulch with a CMC group and skied from the saddle skier's right of the summit. Some in our group skied the coulier skier's right of the summit. In all, a fun, warm day with some frustrating breakable crust mixed with corn snow turns! A fun day.

Erin and I made the traverse from The Citadel to Hagar on this, our last climb in Colorado before we moved to Pittsburgh. Then we hiked the Divide over to Golden Bear (it's wild to see the western outlet of the Eisenhower Tunnel from up here!) before returning to the Dry Gulch TH.

Great morning hike. Very little snow remaining. I took Aaron's suggestion and headed more directly up the SSE slopes to the summit. Very easy going with some excellent scrambling near the top. Not another sole around.

ColoradoScottRoute Climbed: South Ridge from Continental Divide Date Climbed: July 31, 2004  Sucess!

We began at the western end of the Eisenhower Tunnel and followed this route up. There wer no access issues due to security while we were there, although public access to inside the tunnel and it's restrooms have been cutoff.

After summitting by this route, two of my party of four descended, while two of us continued along the divide and climbed "South Hagar", or Unnamed Point 13,010' , a ranked 13er. There was a bit of class II+ scrambling on route, due to rocky points along the crest of the divide.

Although there is an access road that intersects the divide a mile south of this summit, it angles back to the northwest into the valley used on the ascent, so we followed the ridge south from this summit for a few hundred yards before turning down to the west along some grassy ridges and scree couloirs and intersected this road at about it's northern end. From there, we followed it back to it's terminus where we had left our vehicle.

Great climb up and over and across the ridge to Citidale, what a great loop and awesome snow climb on a warm early summer day. I highly recomend it.

saintgrizzlyRoute Climbed: South Ridge Date Climbed: August 28, 2003  Sucess!

Climbed with Aaron, in what--all things considered--turned out to be a surprisingly nice day. Unfortunately, the thing I remember most is that I was sick, on vacation, determined to make the best of it, and after returning home was about as bad off for a month or more as I ever get. The doctor, after drawing a begrudgingly-given admission to my having climbed with a fever, said something to the effect of, "that wasn't too bright." Well, okay. But I figure I must have been in reasonably good shape to even make the mountain! He was right, though.
