BigRobIce Lake Basin-Solo  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 11, 2009

Very windy. Snow cover after lake until saddle. Any more snow this year take an axe and prepare for an epic.

Wiktoria PlawskaIce Lakes and Golden Horn  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 20, 2009

I camped at the lower Ice Lakes.
We summited at around 11 a.m. With Thunder already being heard!
The scramble was very loose, but fun!
The ice lakes are so amazing!
I should have pictures posted in one or more weeks.

Date Climbed: Jul 22, 2007

The weather was becoming cloudy but we felt we had enough time yet to make it to Golden Horn. Glissaded halfway down from the Fuller/Vermilion saddle and then traversed Vermilion to Golden Horn Saddle. Quite an aerie on top. Loved the view of Pilot Knob. Started to rain on the way out.

Ice Lakes Basin is out of this world. We climbed Golden Horn right after my buddy celebrated finishing the centennials on Vermilion. Fun little scramble and a great finish to a great day.

Climbed Golden Horn by itself as part of a long weekend in this pristine basin. Awesome perch on the summit. Be sure to check out the false summit too.

Climbed with the great group of folks at the SP gathering. Wonderful area - great peaks, lakes, flowers, etc. Lucked out on the weather too, but had to endure ROMERO'S REVENGE!

A great time climbing with the SP group for the Summer gathering. Flora was just incredible in Ice Lakes Basin-- definitely the best of the best of Colorado. The climb was fun and the summit views were incredible! A great climb.

Beautiful hike through Ice Lake basin - the wildflowers were at their finest! The weather managed to hold off and not rain and we had a group of 10 of us from Summit Post who climbed the mountain. What fun!

shanahan96west slopes snow climb  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 27, 2007

longest snow climb in my life(probably jamie and mike's also)! hit the powder around 11,200 feet and followed it skyward from there. a combination of steep and mellow slopes brought us to the summit block.

led a route through the rocks on the summit block while carefully avoiding the east face. i had that unbelievable feeling while up there!

had to pass on vermillion because of an unsafe upper ridge and sloughing beginning to occur in the east facing vermillion dollar couloir. oh well, there's always next time.

chicagotransplantVia Trout Lake  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 27, 2007

climbed with shanahan96 and jamienellis from the Trout Lake side. Continuous snow from where the Hope Lake trail crossed Poverty Gulch all the way to the Golden Horn-Vermilion Saddle. Snow on the summit pitch made the ridge a little sketchy, lots of sloughing of snow made us bail on Vermilion and just glissade our way back to Poverty Gulch. Great summit: small, exposed and with phenomenal views!

After being denied this summit last year with just 400' to go, it was satisfying to return to Ice Lake Basin and climb Golden Horn. There was a little snow left on the slope leading to the saddle, but nothing difficult. While we were atop Golden Horn, we were shouting both to our friends on Vermilion and a party that was atop Pilot Knob. A trip report is available here.

seth@LOKIClimbed North corners  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 17, 1998

Climbed North side after approach from Trout Lake. a bit tough and not recommended unless with a rope on the top dihedral but not long enough to bring a rope. Made the peak interesting though. I prefer Island Lake to Ice Lakes.
