Great 17 mile trek to see this peak. The wildflowers were pretty much out in force, and made for a nice view during the day. Got a bit cool and windy with a front moving in.
A combination hike and bike trip. I left late, 1:30 pm, and the bike helped make the trip faster. Stashed the bike at the 7 mile mark and walked the rest. I'm amazed the shack is still standing, expecially with all the wind I had to deal with.

Stop 1 of 3 on a LONNNNGGGG highpoint bagging day that included Mount Pinos of Ventura County and Sawmill Mountain of Kern County. Drove down from Monterey area and arrived around 2pm (got a late start). Mountain biked all the way to the top (yes, I had the bike on the summit with me!) and rode it all the way down. The downhills were fun! Was back at my car by 6pm, and was able to bag other highpoints by flashlight.
It was really warm and the Carrizo Plain was looking especially bleak and Death Valleyish.

Enjoyable hike. We made it quicker using bicycles much of the way. The road is pretty good to about the 3 mile mark, then okay to about the 6 mile mark. We stashed our bikes here and walked the final bit. I'd say we biked about 6 of the 16 miles. Great weather for December.

The first stop on my 9 peak So. Cal County Highpoint Tour. Made it to the top in time for sunrise, and back to the car by 8:30a - 14mi RT by the time I'm usually getting up in the morning!
