We enjoyed a glorious fall day on Tijeras & Music. We found the ramp described on the sp page and it had ice at the bottom, so we rapped down. The ramp described by Dave Cooper is further south and is supposed to be a bit easier. Climbed the east ridge of Music as well, which is a short but sweet scramble. See TR.

Climbed Tijeras and Music from the Music Pass TH on a great fall day. The ramp on Tijeras was holding a lot of ice - we were able to climb up beside it but decided to rappel on the way down.

Solo trip. Camped at gorgeous Sand Creek Lake. Got to the break in the cliffs when sleet set in. Made for a dangersouly slippery Class 3 section. Almost made the top of the crux when common sense took over. I slid back down to the bottom of the ramp disappointed but resolved to return. And confident of getting to the top in drier conditions.

My first 13er, loved the secludedness. Only other people on trail were fishermen. Nice mountain to mix up the routine

Total ascents = 2. 1st time via the standard route. 2nd time via the first ascent of "Vertical Study in Grays and Browns" on the "Mark Rothko Wall" (the South Face).

Climbed with Aaron Johnson, and Mark and Robin Anderson. Bad, windy weather, but one of the best climbs around. This is a GREAT mountain, definitely near the top of my Colorado favorites!

Take a break from the "big-name" Sangres, and do this one; you'll probably be alone, and will fall in love with the mountain.

Looks like we didn't find the ramp that Aaron found (far wider!), but we made it up, nonetheless. A trip report is available here.

We attempted this mountain in ugly weather in 1990. Got great pictures but had to bail. Returned in 1991 to almost the same conditions but managed to summit. A fun and challenging climb, and dramatic pictures, too! Tijeras is every bit as exciting and impressive as the Sangre 14ers, but the bonus: we never saw a SOUL! Tijeras is one of my very favorite mountains.
