| I have done the full traverse twice, once along the 2nd time with wife and dog. The first go back in 2003 was early in the season, I strapped on my crampons and knocked out 1100' straight up hooking into the southwest ridge that leads to the summit. It was cold and windy at the top, even a little stormy. There is a summit register. I then descended by traversing west towards Cougar Canyon (Northwest Route). This route affords you great views of Lady Macdonald's summit ridge. Basically this trip formed a triangle circuit, giving one a great ridge hike at 8500' with dangerous cornices on your right. Saw no humans in 2003 or 2004. It is quiet all around this early in the season. |
