Kendall is a great peak just off the PCT. Awesome views of the area and I hadn't realized that I could see the summit from the PCT.

Bryan and I had another two for one day starting with Kendall Peak and then moving on to nearby Alaska Mountain. I got to enjoy the summit this time since all the flying ants have now frozen to death.

Date Climbed: Aug 20, 2009

It was my first time on these peaks and I didn't do much research so route finding was a bit of a trick. Special thanks to my friend Alexei for his last minute descriptions of the Kendall route and shortcut. I only spent a few seconds on the summit because it was swarming with flying ants and they did not like me being there. It wasn't originally part of my plan but I jogged back down to the junction so I would have time for neighboring Red Mountain.

On and off views from the fog. Still good to bag this peak! Roughly 3.5 hours roundtrip not including 1 hour on the summit to wait to see if the fog cleared.

Date Climbed: Jul 9, 2009

Went up with the TNAB group for an evening summit hike. Was fun, chilly and scenic. Another quick I-90 corridor hike/scramble. Easy off-trail route at the top.

Date Climbed: Nov 8, 2008

Horrible weather made this all the more enjoyable for me. Snow on the ground, limited visibility due to the fog that was rolling in and rolling out, and rain at times all made for a trek that was slick at times. Ascended the NW Ridge, descended one of the gullies back to the PCT. Good times!

HereandthereThe White Stump  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 16, 2008
A fun trip. My friend and I started out at 9:00 A.M. and headed up the PCT from Snoqualmie Pass. We went to the end of the Kendall Katwalk for the view and then headed back to the White stump and cut on up the hill to the peak. Once on the slope the trail is evident and if you are looking for it, you can actually see it climbing the hill up the the peak. Great trip with great views (Rainier was looming in the distance).

lneherNorthwest Ridge route  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 13, 2005

It was a crisp clear day with a little bit of snow. We followed the old crest trail and cut a couple of miles off the round trip. The old trail crosses Commonwealth Cr, and the low flow made it very simple. With high water, there's a log with some metal grating for traction.

osatrikPCT side trip  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 24, 1993

Having failed in June to negotiate the Red Mountain-to-PCT traverse, I came back in the fall to catch Kendall in the more conventional manner. Memorable on this trip: I took my ice axe. Some jerk on the PCT made a derogatory comment about not needing an ax on any climb along there at this time of year, but I actually used it in the turf when I decided to descend from the summit straight toward the trail rather than back along the ridge. (I don't do crazy stuff like that any more!)

A low snow year so the approach wasn't hinderd. Although the wind was howling once we broke out in the open. Gust around 50mph. Needless to say we didn't stay on top very long. Great views though.

A nice early winter day. Just enough snow to make it slippery and not enough for the ax to bite made it interesting.
