Date Climbed: Nov 12, 2006

Climbed with brenta on cold, snowy, and breezy day. The altitude really seemed to affect me for some reason.

Great day, sunny, very windy. Views all the way to Longs and Meeker up north, to Bierstadt and company out east and views of the divide. Great day hike! little people traffic.

We did the Grand Circle route up Englemann, Robeson, Parnassus, Bard and Woods starting from the Urad Mine and ending at the Herman Gulch TH.

The neighboring Bard Peak would be easy too also hit in a day but we had to descend due to building stormclouds

Climbed this with a new co-worker who has turned out to be one of my main climbing partners! Chased off the summit by some lightning, but otherwise a good day! A Tri-Centennial.

Perfect day, went up with a neighbor and it was his first peak. Also, we celebrated his first week being smoke free with a peak climb, awsome job for him.

What and awesome area. My wife and I had a great day with warmer temps and no wind. Only 3-5 inches of snow to contend with and excellent views from Long's to Holy Cross. Couldn't have picked a better late season day.

Windy and cold on the summit ridge. A storm was coming in so we didn't stay long and couldn't really see very much. A very cool view of Bard Peak though. A nice hike with easy access and a short drive from Denver.

Good views of familiar peaks from this one. An icy wind up high so I didn't stay long. The first hike I've done from the Herman Gulch TH without seeing another person.

Trail was nice most of the way, although snow covered a large portion of the route to the saddle once I crossed the creek. Some postholing was encounted, but all in all the snow was solid to walk on. I reached the summit in 2.5 hours to cold and winds. I was surprised to see a summit cairn and log, which I signed. A bit cloudy the whole trip, but I beat the weather and had a good time!

A beautiful summit attained by a very gentle slope. Its a great half day hike near Denver and Watrous Gulch is a very beautiful place. I think Watrous Gulch would make an absolutely great date hike!

This was my 3rd attempt at Parnassus and I am happy to say I summitted. First two times made it to the saddle between Woods and Parnassus only to find no visibility and horrific winds. Wind was present on this ascent but the skies were clear and sunny. Great mountain for aclimitization. Very steep tundra slopes also good for getting in shape.

Aaron JohnsonRoute Climbed: Watrous Gulch Date Climbed: June 7, 2003; August 6, 2005  Sucess!

2005: Climbed with Machebeouf & Woods on an IU Trekkers outing. Gorgeous day with Randy, Sharon, Ellen and Colin.

2003: Lots of snow on the trail from a fast moving storm that moved through. Up higher, the climbing was straightforward. 30mph sustained winds, 40 degrees tops on top. Didn't stick around long. Dropped down quick through a burn area. Made for a great day because the usually crowded area was empty. It was just us and the mountain! A wonderful day indeed. Still lots of snow, all of it crappy. Avoid it this year.

This was a great spring training climb. We began at Watrous Gulch, took a right turn at the Bard Creek Trail, then bushwhacked up a ridge to the summit. We headed north toward Woods Mtn and down into Watrous Gulch, making it a neat loop hike.

Very nice day hike, awesome view from big summit. Watrous Gulch is growing popular, but is still much less visited than Herman Gulch. Makes for a nice snow hike as well.

Climbed this mountain a third and final time to execute this route. A great day!
