Hi-Cannon  Sucess!

I went from the Lonesome Lake trail to the Hi-Cannon trail. There was nobody else on the trail or the summit the entire morning. It was nice and peaceful. Good weather. Enjoyable time.

Kinsman Ridge Trail  Sucess!

New Year's Day hike with Ben from the tramway parking lot up the Kinsman Ridge Trail. -11F + 20mph winds + 0 visibility = very cold, cloudy day on the mountain.

Kinsman Ridge Tr  Sucess!

Hiked from the north (tram parking lot), with detour to the Old Man turnbuckles (got slightly off-route on reascent, had to do some crawling to get through the krummholz). Got a few sprinkles of snow while I tagged the summit. (Had to give directions to two groups who'd taken the tram up and managed to walk off the summit in the wrong direction.)

After descending to the parking lot, looked up and spotted the Cannon for the first time ever. Must have walked right past it (twice) earlier...

Trail is badly eroded in several places, and wet too; people have made many muddy side paths to avoid mossy rocks.

Whitney-G & Black Dike

A dubious period for this climb, November. Way cold, my fingers were numb by the pipe pitch! But, a true NE classic. My pic adorns the cover page (upper right hand corner).

Went back in the summer of 06 during warm weather, the approach up the talus field was as difficult as the climb.

What can I say about the BD that has not been said. Maybe that P2 is now a mixed climb.

Cannon Mountain  Sucess!

Climbed with Northeast Cannonball and North and South Kinsman via the Lonesome Lake Trail from Franconia Notch. A fun and, at times, very steep hike. Awsome views of the Franconias across the notch from the summit tower. It's always a bit of a shock seeing all the people who rode the ski lift up after being pretty much alone in the woods for most of the day.

Second 4k Ski  Sucess!

Ski'd up the Ski slopes after the season ended. Forgot sunscreen which I payed for. Fun views from the summit. It looks like they are taking down one of the smaller radio towers up there. Skiing down is always a nice reward even if the snow is wet and sluggish.

Cloudy Hike  Sucess!

I think Cannon would be a somewhat boring hike otherwise. We had some fantastic clouds that made for some fun views. Lafayette was peeking in and out.

Hi-Cannon Winter Hike  Sucess!

Started from the Parking lot a little after 12:00 with my dad and my dog. Chilly but calm in the parking lot, 6 degrees. Nice hike up, couldn't decide whether snowshoes were helping or slowing us down. Good amount of snow for so early in the year. The dog loved it up until the top 100 feet where it was -10 degrees with 40 mph wind. For a wind chill of approximately -50 F, brisk. Stopped inside the tram house for a little to shake the ice and droolcicles off of the dog. Made it up in about 2.5 hours, back in about 1.5.

Duet Direct and Whitney-Gilman

One of the finest weather days in a long time, and not surprisingly Cannon was quite busy. We had some designs on Vertigo, but there was a line on it. Needless to say everybody and their grandmother were on Whitney-Gilman and Moby Grape. We ending up doing Duet Direct - two pitches, 5.7 and 5.10, then rapped off and decided on an afternoon run up the WG. Despite starting at 3, we still managed to get stuck behind some parties, but nonetheless finish the climb in around 3 hours. Overall a fine day of climbing on New Hampshire's finest!

The Whitney Gilman Ridge  Sucess!

The rock climbing route is a New England Classic. The descent was extremely steep, slippery and covered with loose rock. Facing the cliff we hiked down to the left on a climbers trail. Brutal!

Route Climbed: Lakeview  Sucess!

Beautiful climb. Middle two pitches were in pretty bad shape because of the "Old Man" rock formation collapsing and tearing up the route (a lot of gravel and few reliable anchor points). Might be better now.

Cannon Mountain  Sucess!

I went up the steep Ridge Trail from the Tramway- park at the picnic area. Lots of water on the trail the form of springs. Great views from many spots.

I've climbed Cannon a couple of times and always enjoy the view of Lincoln and Lafayette from the top, despite the development from the ski area.
