| Courthouse Mountain is a very unique summit that offers a huge bang for your buck. The round trip only takes a few hours but the scenery is spectacular! | ||

| Wow, this is a fun hike! It's a long drive to get back in there, but well worth it. Turret Ridge, Chimney Rock, Precipice, and Coxcomb views are awesome. We headed back down and bushwacked up to nearby 12er Dunsinane across the valley but were shut down by snow on exposed ledges. I will be back! | ||

| A short 4 mile roundtrip hike and small scramble. It was a good warm-up hike. The views were awesome! The flowers were amazing, and the peak was great, all in a very short time. Many people were going to the summit by the time we were getting off. We were the first ones up, and i put my name in the register box at the trail head. We summited at around 9:20 a.m. | ||

| Makes for a great day. Snow persisted throughout the trees but was easily overcome. The last 300 ft. in elevation gain via the standard route were a bonus before summiting! This only added to what I consider one of my favorite play areas! | ||

| Camped at Silver Jack Reservoir. The wife and I left the kids with the grandparents at camp and made a dash for Courthouse. The summit arrived abruptly. Wonderful day, wonderful views. | ||

| This is a good one. I went up in the early afternoon and stayed through a great sunset. Looking across to the strangeness that is Precipice Peak is something else. | ||

| Hot day for a steep climb. Beautiful views from the summit and a wonderful way to scout the next day's Chimney Rock route. | ||

| I climbed this just after semi recovering from near death on Polemonium Pk in California. Be careful on big loose rocks. The last time we descended down a tricky "slot" on the main drainage of the East Face. Don't recommend it but not that bad. | ||

| Most of Erin's and my wedding party made this hike on a soggy morning -- the maid of honor with her husband and my best man. We also brought my sister, and this was her first hike of a mountain of any kind. She had a blast! The views of low-hanging clouds clinging the surrounding mountainsides were really dramatic. | ||

| Nice Mountain! This was an exceptional day with Aaron Johnson and Jim Lierman--and we came away with the now infamous (at least in the Aaron/Jim/Vernon corner of the world) "Cow vs. Elk" incident. Sometime ask Jim about it... | ||

| What a cool mountain - steep too! A nice hike you can do in a few hours up and a few hours down. Wear good boots. Nice views from the top. Trailhead located in a beautiful area for camping and several other peaks like Precipice which can be climbed from nearby trailheads. | ||

| This was the first of many return climbs I've done of Courthouse Mountain. It's a great conditioning hike, for starts, but overall just plain fun any time. And the views are breathtaking! We even used it as an acclimation hike for our friends from New York. | ||

| 1998: Finally managed to climb this awesome peak after years of staring at it in anticipation. My thanks to longtime partners Vernon Garner and Jim Lierman for accompanying me. This was a special day. A quiet time on the summit as rain showers passed over the mighty San Juans! Fun climbing and rocking hopping on the top made this summit a dramatic place. What an incredible view! Never saw a soul, either. Courthouse is a fantastic summit with lots of character as well as peace and quiet. Awesome! 2003: We climbed the mountain after a morning shower. Solitude once again greeted us. Saw two guys on our way down. Saw a tremendous storm from the top of the mountain as it rained upon the Uncompahgre Valley below. Finished up with a soak in the hot tub in Ridgway. A very awesome day. | ||
