myleshike to top  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 25, 2009

Approach to Savage Slit above Coire an Lochan looked to dicey without axe and crampons, so we did a circuit of the northern corries on the way to the summit. Not much visibility on the plateau.

CodyA day in the hills  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 5, 2008

One of the best days I've ever had in Scotland. Went from Cairn Lochan then up to Cairn Gorm and then down next to that ugly train thing...

mountainmanmarkA couple of times  Sucess!

The last time I ventured here it was with John Sickel to do Ben Macdui via a snow climb in the Northern corrie, then a trek across the tops in near zero visibility. After a successfully bit of navigation, and some fun. We took off to Cairn Gorm and found it clearing for some great views. Both of the valley down to Avimore, and back across the mountains. A grand day out!

KNEEPOn to Ben Macdui  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Nov 5, 2006

Arrived late on saturday and managed to reach the summit of Cairngorm just before dark. Slept in my car and left early the next day to retrace my steps and continue to Ben Macdui. Sadly the clouds reached its summit some 15 minutes before I did. Got blown over a couple of times, and it was quite cold, but I was alone on the plateau the whole time! Nice day out.

Mark Rapley and I went up to Ben Macdui via a snow climb in the Northern corrie, then a treck accross the tops in near zero visibility. After a sucsessfull bit of navigation, and some fun. fdoctorRoute Climbed: Fiacaill Ridge Date Climbed: January 2001  Sucess!

A long winter climb in full gear with Eric Pirie and Pete Richardson. Beautiful day but very, very cold.

Lost a glove!

Climbed it a year late with Pete and Andy Green in a full blizzard and gales of 85mph. An absolute epic with a backward flip off one pinnacle at one point when both axes came out of cracks at the same time!

Joerg MarretschRoute Climbed: "Normal Route" from parking lot ski area Date Climbed: 02 July 2005  Sucess!

A windy day. A short 80 minute hike to the summit plateau. Wonderful views to the arctic-like cairngorm mounbtains.

Quick descend over windy ridge to parking lot.

Unfortunately, one of the most commercialized munros in scotland.

mountainmanjohnRoute Climbed: Via Northern corrie (forgotten which one!) Date Climbed: 1998  Sucess!

We made our way up to Cairn Gorm via a gully in one of the Northern corries and had great winter weather, high winds, and a touch of snow.

And on to Ben MacDui. In wind and rain and low visibility. Oh the joys of Scottish mountains.

imunroRoute Climbed: Several winter and summer routes (favourite is Fiacaill Rigde in winter) Date Climbed: Several!  Sucess!

This was where my Dad took me on my first ever winter climb(Fiacaill Ridge) We didn't complete it because of the white out and very strong winds but now I'm hooked and have returned to the northern coires several times. Easily the best place to learn the skills in Britain but expect crowds!

The default choice for winter routes...just wish it was less busy

ProbemeisterRoute Climbed: In 1997, the Ficaill Ridge, in 2003 Goat Track Gully and Alladin's Couloir Date Climbed: Feb 1997, March 2003  Sucess!
Went to the summit a couple of times after climbing in the northern corries, good views in 2003, 1997 was a complete whiteout, and I got blown over several times on the plateau

Andy KennedyRoute Climbed: Ascended the western flank from the plateau Date Climbed: March 2002  Sucess!

After spending a day with a guide and my university group we decided to head up to the plateau from corrie cas and from there on up to the summit of Cairn Gorm. Not a spectacular mountain to look at or climb, but it was my first munro and the views over to the other cairngorm giants were breathtaking.

Phil McLeanRoute Climbed: Fiacaill ridge, Ben MacDui Date Climbed: 17th August 1996  Sucess!

From the ski car park, along the path SW, then up the Fiacaill ridge. Enjoyable scrambling, all difficulties avoidable. Easy walk south across the plateau to Ben MacDui. Returned across ther plateau, keeping lower to get a view of Loch Avon, then up easy slopes of Cairn Gorm. Descended north via ski developments. Good to have walked to the summit at last - my first time at the top was as a small child having used the old chairlift to within 150m of the summit!
