Date Climbed: Oct 24, 2009

Only a 12er but a unique one. Windy as hell in October but will return in high summer with a tent, rope, finger tape, and pro to 4".

ktiffany22Memorial Hike for Linda  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 20, 2008

What an amazing set of rocks up there! After losing Linda on 14er Crestone Needle, we hiked Bison as a memorial dedication to her. There were about 15 of us. It was sweet to remember and converse about her. She was a great mountaineer- rest in peace dear sweet Linda!

The summit log was almost a year old and didn't have very many entries at all.

The rock formations were great!

Date Climbed: Jun 21, 2009

Beautiful day amongst beautiful rock formations. Second time up Bison, last time up was last October. I think this could become a regular peak for me to do.

Great morning on Bison! Tried to make McCurdy as well but weather didn't cooperate.

#2 on Bison for me. This time I went with a partner. Slowpoke and I had some fun after it started snowing on us!

Date Climbed: Oct 18, 2008

What an awesome mountain. The rock formations above treeline are just spectular. Had the summit to myself, although I did see other people on the trail. Beautiful clear, sunny day, but a bit chilly (it was 27 degrees when I started) and a little breezy, but I still spent at least an half hour at the summit taking in this mountain's beauty.

I definitely plan on returning.

On a crisp clear day I had the mountain to myself. A one of a kind summit that makes you want to meander around on a good day.

Took my girlfriend up for her first time hiking in the mountains. She loved it but wouldn't give me road head on the way home.

shknbkeVia Ute Creek, traverse to McCurdy  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 12, 2008

There wasn't as much snow as expected on this south facing trail, so we made good time until we got to the saddle. It wasn't as windscoured as expected above treeline, but we still had enough left in the tank to head over to McCurdy. Brutal combo hike with snow, but the views more than made up for it!

Practically a summer day. It was downright hot for early Nov! Very cool summit.

Date Climbed: Aug 30, 2007

I came up from the Ute Creek TH. A fairly long approach didn't leave much time at the top before the weather moved in. I should have started earlier. Finding a path through the maze of rock made this hike very interesting and definitely one of my favorite places in Colorado. Truly a unique place!

Great peak. Would like to camp up there and spend more time playing on the rocks.

Solo overnight trip. Saw 2 people on the trail Sat and about 4 on Sunday. What a neat bizarre landscape. My first use of my new bivy sac and there were tons of great sheltered spots in the rocks above treeline. Set up camp, ate dinner and summited Bison. Watched a fantastic sunset and saw the lights of Denver come into view. Got up the next morning, summitted McCurdy, and packed out. If you want to try camping above treeline, this is a good area to do it. However, water is scarce up there. Had to melt snow. I'll be back again I'm sure.

Date Climbed: May 14, 2006

Got caught in a thunderstorm right as we were summitting at noon. Very scary. We were only at the summit for about 60 seconds. Beautiful summit area, just wish I could have seen more. Will be back.
