| Pharmacist | Late Start ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 5, 2009 | |
| We camped out across the valley in settlement canyon, Tooele, and slept in too. Didn't start til after 1pm. Very beautiful mountain! We made it to the summit at 6:30, took some pictures, etc and left the summit at 7. We were at the truck at 10pm, after hiking the last few miles in the dark. Saw lots of deer right before it got dark, and in that forested area was REALLY dark. good thing we had a mini maglite. | ||

| I think everyone and their dogs were climbing this peak. And to top things off my hiking partner decided to do a hand stand on the peak and wanted me to take a pic of it. As I bent down to get a good shot my gps came off me belt and went tumbling down the cliff. We tried to find it but it was lost forever. | ||

| nshm | Try the West First ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 14, 2009 | |
| The road is still closed, but the hike is sill worth it. One of the park rangers suggested we try the west loop first as the east route provides more shade later in the day, it worked out great! Would rate it somewhere between moderate and difficult. | ||

| Beautiful hike - in the short time we have lived in Utah, this is easily my favorite - nice meadows, forests and then up to the saddle and to the peak. Amazing views. Only thing that was a little messed up was the additional 3.4 miles added to the hike as the road was blocked off at the Boy Scout Campground due to flash flooding damage. Oh well, no big deal ... | ||

| I was very impressed with this hike. The scenery is as good as any hike in Utah, and it's only made better to hike in alpine greenery while seeing salt flats and Great Basin desert in the distant. We did the loop route (up from the east, down to the west), and with the road closed, my GPS clocked us at 17 miles round trip. Normally I believe it's 8 or 9 miles, but the extra walking was well worth it. Only a few groups on the trail, even on the 4th of July weekend. I have to say the rock up there is beautiful too. After Provo Peak, with its shale scree, this nice quartz was very pleasant. I'd recommend that you pause before doing Timp again and enjoy this beautiful peak. It's a treasure. | ||

| Kadee | Fresh Snow ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 24, 2006 | |
| The peak had just got a few inches of fresh snow a couple days before. The day we hiked was clear skies and sunny, but chilly. Very nice hike, only saw a couple other people on the trail. | ||

| Dave and I hiked up to the ridge via South Willow canyon and camped the night. The next morning we reached the summit, with the cornice still present on the upper ridge. This is a fun moderate hike. | ||

| The second group up for the day, when we left there were a dozen or more people, and four dogs. Too crowded for my taste, but well wortht he effort of getting there. One of the easiest county highpoint, IMO. | ||

| Willow Creek up and back. Great mountain with a mild climb, which was good because it was 100 degrees today. So pretty with all the water this year. Had a great time! Summit views were hazy but good--almost thought I could make out Nebo?? Maybe not. | ||

| Garfimi | The Loop ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 5, 2002 | |
| One of my favorite peaks outside of the Wasatch. Have been up there different times of the year. Climbed in the fall and was blown away by all the fall colors. Winter/Early Spring was great. Early Summer is very green. Great year a around peak to do. | ||

| lcarreau | South Willow Trail ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 18, 1980 | |
| First asscent made with the boy scouts. If you begin early, you can also visit South Willow Lake. Its at the bottom of the cirque beneath South Willow Peak. Always lots of wildflowers during the summer. An exciting way down is a snow gully or couloir on (Deseret Peak's) east side. The snow usually doesn't melt until late June. Beautiful scenery! | ||

| Moogie737 | Loop Campground TH - After the 4-mile trek past the locked gate! ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 20, 2009 | |
| First ascent w/ good friend Greg Clark. 3+15 to reach the summit, beautiful views. I like the variety of scenery during the first 2,000' feet of climb. Bagged Deseret the 2nd time 10-3-08 with Brent, this time taking the Pockets Fork trail up and the "normal" trail down. Color-laden aspens and leaden skies made for terrific scenery. I prefer the summit approach from the north. This was the 4th Utah county highpoint within the last 11 days, and Deseret was the lowest of all four! 3rd time on 10-25-08 w/ Brooke. Made the "loop" up Mill Fork and down the Pockets Fork side. 5+10 r/t. First winter ascent 1-20-09 in honor of my mother's 91st birthday. With Brent & Dave. The locked Forest Service gate 4 miles below the Loop CG adds 8 miles & 1500' vertical gain to the effort. Still, we made the entire trip in just under 9 hours, taking a modified Mill Fork route. Since the west side of the summit ridge had been scoured by wind & sun, a ribbon of rocky mud was visible along the southwest edge of portions of the summer trail. (4+12 up, 3+25 down) 6th ascent 10-22-09 For Anne's b-day (w/ Brent & Anne) Lots of snow above 8,500'. 2+35 up 1+48 down. Gorgeous day but windy on top. | ||

| COTrekker02 | The Loop Hike on a Beautiful Day ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 25, 2007 | |
| My wife and I completed the loop trail today bagging Deseret. It was a beautiful day and climbing up the canyon the weather was quite cool. The view is awesome, especially the barren Great Basin desert to the West. We left the north ridge early and took the short-cut down to the main trail...it definitely saves time but you do some bushwacking in the blistering heat. A great oasis of mountain beauty in the desert. | ||

| seanpeckham | Very nice ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 21, 2007 | |
| Blue sky with some lenticular and small cumulus clouds forming in the afternoon high above the peaks, but hazy in the distance due to summer smog and several wildfires in the North Willow area (including one fairly large one). I could still make out Timp and Nebo, but they were faint. Hot down low, pleasant and breezy on top (but swarms of insects, mostly nonbiting, joined us for lunch at the summit). This is a very pretty and impressive mountain, even in the usually harsh noonday sun, and the route was straightforward (we did the loop up the south side and down the north side). I like the desert touch in the environment. On a critical note: many of the locals seem not to have good wilderness ethics, as there were numerous eroded switchback shortcuts and names carved in trees. | ||

| Beautiful day but the bugs stay with you from the parking lot to the top. Incredibly green through the canyon up to the saddle with wildflowers. Great breezes blowing on top kept the heat at bay. | ||
