| I climbed to the top of (what I will call) the east sub-summit of Tarryall Peak. At the tail end of a long solo trip, I intended to climb Catamount. My body was worn out and my strength was running low. I made it to Lake Park and turned off at the burnt tree. I made my way up to the base of what I thought was Catamount, although it didn’t look right. I managed to climb up a chimney, probably low class 5, and then scramble the rest of the way up. When I turned around I saw Catamount across the way. I was so spent, I readily acknowledged defeat, repelled down, pulled down the rope, packed up, and hiked out. |
