| When I got to the east summit, I found huge dark clouds building over the main Sierra crest. I literally ran to the top of the main west peak scawled my name in the register, took a couple of pictures and ran back. It snowed only briefly as I descended the long chute to the southeast. Guess I could've spent more time on top. It snowed hard on Tioga on the way home and I was lucky not to have to put on the chains. | ||

| Film jammed up, slogging up the scree castle of my dreams. Got some good shots of Dunders fine views, out-weighing the climb. Down the south slope of funless tediousness compounded by angry impatience. Never to climb this mountain of metamorphic rubble again! | ||

| Nice to have a clear smokeless sky after all the California wildfires this year. The views were great. | ||

| No snow, nothing but loose scree. A large boulder rocked and rolled across one of my friends knee, so we turned back for some other peaks. Will try again in the winter. | ||

| The whole south face was melted out. A combination of late start, not enough time, and no snow made us turn around at 10 am. The climb was a slog up talus and scree. We wanted to stick to the ridge but the rock was loose so the hand holds were really sketchy. I will try this mountain again but only if there is snow. | ||

| mlarkin2002 | Dayhike from Virginia Lakes ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 17, 2005 | |
| Dayhiked to summit. Ascent (around ~2.5h if I recall) was steep, but on fairly solid rock. Descent was via a scree chute (10-15m) was much more fun than the ascent. | ||

| Tried to avoid the loose stuff on the slopes by sticking to the ridge. However, seemed like some of the 3rd class rock wasn't real solid. Summit was windy, but the views were great. | ||

| An enjoyable scramble up the SE ridge to the view filled summit. Descended down scree slopes down to near Moat Lake triggering some minor rockslides along the way. | ||

| Found the SE ridge as the others did. I descended the first chute I found toward Moat/Blue lakes. Mix of scree and talus made the fun/work ratio almost even. Up and down in 3 hours with 30 mins. at summit is nice for any Sierra peak. On top by 8:30 am, beautiful morning. | ||

| The west slope is pretty much a long, evil, loose talus slog. Great weather, no skeeters, and outstanding views from the summit. Pics are here. | ||
