| When you reach your turn around time... you've reached your turn around time. Exhaustion after 7 hours up meant that last 150' was not going to happen. At least I have an excuse to go back now. | |

| Was on a trek with Boy Scouts, and I hiked from Twin Lakes right to the foot of Silliman at Little Lakes and took pictures of the route to show to the leaders to see if they would let me hike it.... and they said no... What a mountain, I will be back. | |

| I climbed Mt. Silliman solo via south slope starting from Wuksachi Lodge. It was a great day moving on generally nice snow conditions. The views to the big mountains to the east were impressive. | |

| 2nd attempt, and it was much easier than the first! Teamed up with two friends and Vladislav. Great day. Discontinuous snow in the woods, we went up the exposed slabs and down the snow in great standing glissades. | |

| Was told by a ranger to continue the (very buggy) trail past the Silliman Lake valley to the valley that contains the Little Lakes and approach Silliman from there. Got up the glacier chute to the ridge but ran out of both ridge and time (would have to go down to go up, and I gave up). Returned down the Silliman lake valley. Beatiful primeval place. | |

| Dry slabs made for a 3.5 hour climb from Lodgepole. Good rock beats the usual scree/talus sufferfest. One of the better vistas from the west looking east. | |

| A great time hiking the use trail and slabs up from Lodgepole with Sridhar of the Sierra Club and friends (including HikingBoots!). Silliman Lake offered a refreshing swim after the sunny climb from below. Took the southwest slope up from the nameless lake, which led to more boulders than the usual route (which we took down). Amazing views of the Sierra and beyond every direction. Swimmers' laughter echoed up from Little Lakes, where we could see their tents far below. This peak launched a two-day cross country ring around the Tokopah valley, east to the Tablelands, then south to Alta Peak before returning to Lodgepole. Didn't feel good about crossing the ridge of Silliman's neighbor with full packs on, so we descended the northernmost gully (class 2 with a single class 3 move) from Silliman's southeast col to the cirque above Crescent Lake. From there it was on to the lower Tablelands, slowly but surely over seldom-trodden rock. | |

| People say silliman is a winter peak, but we took a group of beginner in the middle of the summer. We took some time on the slabs, but everyone made it safely. Ranger told me no camping along the silliman creek, so we had to go all the way to silliman lake to camp. It was very scenic by the lake though. | ||

| This was the first peak that I climbed in the Sierra and I loved it! The views were outstanding, the wildflowers were amazing on the way up there, and I especially loved the gnarly old foxtail pines that grow near the summit. I also enjoyed seeing the southernmost grove of Mountain Hemlock which grow below Silliman Lake. | |

| Started the day before from Lodgepole, hiked up patchy snow to about 7200' (approx elevation of junction with Clover Creek trail), where I put snowshoes on. Continued up to about 9500' and camped on a flattish place near some pines. Overnight temps in the high 20's. Next morning started at 6am, my way lit by a quarter moon and a headlamp. Snowshoed up to small lake above Silliman Lake, then put crampons on and headed up to summit by 8am. Breezy but sunny. Great views. Back at the car before noon - worried about approaching storm. A fun little snowcamping trip. | |
