| By the time I got to Guanella Pass at 7:45 there were already hordes of cars parked, but nobody was on their way to Square Top. I had this beautiful mountain to myself and I didn't miss the extra 200 feet! I ascended the SE ridge and descended the class 2 talus of the NE ridge. | |

| Together with Decatur (12,890 ft) and Argentine Peak (13,738), Square Top Mountain was one of the first peaks in Colorado I climbed. The date is just a guess - it was quite a long time ago. We camped at Shelf Lake, gained the ridge to the west, and then hiked the ridge to each of the high points. | |

| Rkymtn and I enjoyed a windy and cold day on Square Top. Didn't see anyone else till we got close to the parking lot. A good half day training climb. ______________ 18 June 2005 This climb makes for a great training day. Beautiful weather and only 3 others on the mountain made for a great day. | |

| Summited Square Top Mountain, Argentine Peak and Mt. Wilcox on a bluebird day from near the Guanella Campground. Saw lots of mountain goats on the west ridge and wild flowers were everywhere. Still a little snow here and there but it can be avoided. | |

| This was a great bluebird day to hike ST's NE Ridge. This was my first ascent of the season, as well as my first summit in snow. That last section before the summit ridge was tough, but thanks to someone else's tracks to show me the way, it was easily managed. | |

| Skinned from Guanella Pass Road to the bench above Silver Dollar Lake. Bootpacked the North "Couloir" to the summit ridge at 13,600' then Hiked talus to the summit. Skied from the summit ridge (not the summit) all the way back to the car. | |

| Square Top was the first mountain I ever attempted back in 1983. We were turned back by lightning. Later that summer I climbed James Peak to make it my first summit. I still wanted to climb Square Top so I came back for it and was successful this time. | |
