colinpenceone of many climbs of this mountain  Sucess!

This mountain is a local favorite, and offers a great conditioning warmup, or a short day climb when time is limited.

I've climbed it several times, often with Aaron Johnson (including both the Mt. Morrison Marathon and Son of Mt. Morrison Marathon), and it always satisfies me.

COTrekker02Sunny Sunday Stroll  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 27, 2008

I'm not sure why it took me 6 years to climb this peak, but I finally got sick of looking at it every day and took to the south ridge route this past Sunday. It's a great "training" climb that I think I'll do 2-3 times/week. The summit has awesome views of Evans, James Peak, IPW, and Longs. Can't beat it for proximity to town!

Date Climbed: Apr 8, 1989

Mt Morrison is near my home in the western suburbs of Denver. I have climbed it many times for exercise because it is so close. Many of those climbs have gone unrecorded in my climbing log. This was my first climb of Morrison.

Date Climbed: Nov 7, 2007

Hike up via the Monocline on a beautiful sunny November day. Nice views of the plains the the east, Longs Peak to the north, Mount Evans to the west and Pikes Peak to the south. Started down the south ridge but then headed the rest of the way down the south side of the gully just to the south of the Monocline route.

astrobassmanGreat way to spend 2 hours

I've been up Mt. Morrison at least a dozen times from every side, and I always have a blast. I even got my dad up there in a snow storm once. From an easy class 2 hike to fun class 4 scrambling, there is something for everyone on Mt. Morrison.

KruckNorth Ridge  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 17, 2007

Went up via north ridge; fun little scramble with excellent views. Was surprised to find deer crap on some pretty narrow sections. Nobody else on the north ridge on a bust Saturday. Went down the east side to ampatheater, then took Red Rocks trail back to Mathews-Winters. Busy as heck. Would have been more fun going back down the north ridge, but hey, you never know 'till you try. First sunburn of the season.

Foxy Long BottomsSolo, After work  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 13, 2006

Went up and over all of the formations along the way, making it 5th class. The rock wasn't that bad, meaning, I've been on worse. Not a single sole to be seen on the mountain. It was nice to see that the deer I encountered on the Peak were scared of me. You don't really see that too much in the Front Range.

Tough but great climb up the rugged southwest ridge. Lots of bushwhacking and scrambling and a good way to practice my routefinding skills. Hope to be able to return to climb some of the other routes.

CMC hike. We started from Red Rocks Entrance 4. There was some concern since the weather had been wet and dreary the last few days, but we had clear, beautiful skies for the hike. The trail was damp but not muddy. We saw only one other hiker on the trail. Part of the old fence was torn down, so you could go directly to the summit.

There was some strong heat and steep climbing, including a rattlesnake spotting by another hiker. Very pretty area, and fun to hike...especially the descent to the Amphitheater!

miztflipRoute Climbed: Monocline Date Climbed: January 21, 2004  Sucess!

First climbed Galbraith, both summits, great hike. Then hiked the Monocline to the summit of Morrison, some interesting views of Denver. Lastly I hiked to up Dinosaur Ridge via the Zorro trail, not very long but great scenery.

Amazingly I only saw three people all day and they were together on Galbraith.

In all a great morning of training.

kcmuleRoute Climbed: Up Amphitheater, Down East Ridge Date Climbed: Sept 24th, 2004  Sucess!

Kind of an ugly summit with all the buildings and towers and it's a little disappointing that one can't reach the actual summit without trespassing... seeing the remote-monitored cameras was a bit of a buzz-kill. But a good view of Mt Evans, Longs Peak, a bit of the divide, and of course Denver and the front range. The trails get thin in places requiring a little scrambling and route finding but all in all this would make a pretty decent early season warm up hike.
