| A nice day to be solo in the mountains. I climbed the East Ridge from my campsite at Twin Crater Lakes. I was surprised to find that I wasn't the first person to climb S. Rawah that day. According to the register, I was the third party to climb the peak in 2008. I continued on across the traverse to North Rawah Peak. | |

| Great fun climbing with my friend, Dave, but complete contrast to bthere's and Andy's summit notes. October 9 was the beginning of the first major snowfall of 2005. Starting at the TH we had no snow, but it started dumping at around 9am, and we were in snow 6-12" later in the day, higher on the peak. Low visibility on the peak (70 meters?). Sprained my ankle on approach, but tape wrap and trekking poles saved the day. A little crazy, but beautiful to see S Rawah's N face loom out of the clouds during a freak 10 seconds of localized clearing. We howled. | |

| This was my solo climbing day on a 14 day COBS course that I instructed. The solitude was perfect therapy and the wildflowers were magnificent! | |

| A perfect Fourth of July hike. I left the house with the wife and dog first thing in the morning and headed straight to the trail. After a long hike into the heart of the wilderness we set up camp at Bench Lake around 1:00pm. After a short rest I decided to let the wife and dog take a nap while I bagged South Rawah. I was fooled into thinking the false summit was the true summit and believed that the round trip would only take me 40 minutes. However, when I reached the false summit I realized I was only a fourth of the way there. Luckily, the hike was up a beautiful wildflower covered slope and there was hardly a cloud in the sky. I reached the summit to find a ferocious wind coming up out of North Park. I stuck around long enough to snap some photos and enjoy the view and then headed back down to our camp at Bench Lake for an evening of fishing and hanging out. | |
