| I don't remember the year but Mike and I climbed the N.E. Face Route and finished on the S. Ridge. On the way back around Jenny Lake we had a very notable close encounter with a large bull moose when I nearly fell into its rack while walking out at dusk. Fortunately, I stopped a few feet short and after throwing a few sticks at the moose we got it to leave the trail (bad idea but good results). | |

| Climbed without aid with Dave Carman as a prelude to a single-day Grand climb starting a few hours later. The crux is tricky with approach shoes. A very fun climb. A bear crossed my path two days later about 200 yards from the boat dock ten feet from me. Great climb! | |

| After summiting the Grand, crossed Jenny's Lake to Baxter's. Chose to scramble up the side instead of climbing. Had lunch 50 meters below the summit in the shade. Great day and good views. | |
