| Started at 6am from Jack's Creek TH. Hiked the standard route: TH-Pecos Baldy Lake-Trailriders Wall-South Ridge. Climbed South Ridge over UN 12,600. Summited at 10am (3rd summit) and went on to Medio Truchas. Hiked back over Truchas summit and returned to the car by 3pm. Great hike: perfect weather, great views! | |

| Climbed via a grass chute south of the Truchas Lakes up to a SE ridge from Medio Truchas. Crossed a small snowfield near the Medio summit to a saddle on the North ridge of South Truchas. Ran face-to-face into a bighorn on the North ridge but otherwise had a great climb. Continued on to climb Middle (West) Truchas the same day and continued down the same route. No crowds at all, we saw about 5 other people the entire day. | |

| Exact data is something of a guess. Well, we were swarmed by bighorns. They didn't really attack, though one grabbed the salty-sweaty underarm of my T-shirt and began chewing. | |

| Spent the night on the trail after about 7-8 miles. Finished the hike to Truches Lake. Beautiful location. No one else around. The climb was relatively easy. Also did some fishing. No bites though. Tore up my right foot something fearsome. Had to super glue it back together and hike back out. It was a killer. Permanent nerve damage was the result. | |

| I came in from Jack's Creek C.G. due to my transportation limitations (i.e. not a 4x4). The hike to Pecos Baldy lake is pretty mundane, but then the real scenery starts! I dropped off my overnight gear at the lake and then headed over trailriders wall toward Truchas. The going was surprisingly easy (I later realized that it was all downhill) along trailriders ridge and the route of Truchas was straightforward. There was a little bit of snow still on the peak, but just enough to make pretty pictures not impeded progress. After an hour on top I returned to Pecos Baldy lake for a night of camping, and hiked out the following morning. | |

| Camped below the West side and headed straight up in the morning. Steep, grassy slopes gave way to steep, loose talus and finally the summit. My favorite mountain range in New Mexico. | |

| Fun hike, some bushwacking but scenery was incredible. Went on to do all the Truchas peaks except the North (didn't have time). Fun, but not challenging. | |

| Climbed south ridge, summited at 9:30. Perfect weather, easy ascent. We descended via Medio Truchas' north ridge. there was a lot more snow below Truchas Lakes than I expected. The trails were very hard to follow, and we bushwacked most of the way back to Trailriders' Wall. | |

| Devin and I climbed South Truchas on day 3 of a 4-day backpacking trip out of Rio Medio. Even though it was the 4th of July weekend, there was only one other guy and a friendly herd of bighorn sheep on the mountain. No weather, no crowds: Absolutely perfect day. My (and also Devin's) first 13er, too. | |

| I did all three with Bill Herbert in 1998 , I think. We were both living in Las Vegas , New Mexico at the time. I believe we started at the Rio Quemado, there was an acequia that we walked along for a few miles. Doing all three from there took 12 hours. At one of the summits we could both feel electricity on our fingertips so we descended a valley we did not come up. It added a couple of hours to our hike. Bill said it was the best day hike he had ever done. | |

| Beautiful day until I approached the summit when the storms moved in. I was too close to the finish line to turn back after six hours of hiking. I donned the rain gear and made the summit as the storm passed by to the east. | |

| the views around these mountains are amazing (i.e. Truchas Lakes, Trailriders Wall, Skyline Trail) I summitted Middle Truchas and Truchas Peaks in one morning as a part of a larger backpacking trip, the climb isnt too strenuous but the reward is great | ||

| These Truches Peaks must be climbed from the West through the beautiful basin that sits below them. Plan to camp in the basin...there are many virgin camp sites and few if any people. I went over the top of Middle Truches along the ridge to South Truches. I've climbed all over the Western U.S. and this one is one of the best. | ||

| Tried to summit Truchas from the east this time. Got to the base near the Truchas Lakes but the snow was waist deep and avalanches were a concern. We turned back. I'll have to try again in a later month from this side. This side retains snow too long in the Spring. | |

| A few years ago, for my 16th birthday a bunch of my friends and I backpacked up to right below Trailrider's Wall and then climbed the peak the next day. Long trip! Believe it was something like 23 miles in 2 days, but definitely worth it. | |
