| Merced Pk-Red Pk dayhike from the Quartz Mtn TH. While not a stellar climb, Merced Peak boasts some very nice summit views--I spent much longer than I'd intended up there soaking them in on a glorious fall day. Red Peak, on the other hand, has no redeeming qualities. Ugh. | |

| From Upper Ottoway Lakes, Ray and I scrambled up to Merced Peak then over to Triple Divide Peak. The scramble down to the north was a bit sketchy over some steep snow (sans crampons), but we finally made it back to the Red Peak Trail which brought us up over the pass and back to our campsite.
