Date Climbed: Sep 23, 2009

My wife and I were up and down in no time flat and still had plenty of time on top to enjoy the phenomenal view. didn't see too many other people, mainly because it was mid week and cold but definitely worth every second.

kteichertBald and Reed's  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 5, 2009

My friend and I decided to tackle this monster this morning, ha ha. It took just about 30 minutes to reach the summit. One of the most pleasant and beautiful hikes I have yet done. It offers great views of other Uinta peaks that wet my appetite to spend some considerable time in the Uinta's. At the top, I decided to change our previous plans, of also bagging Murdock Mountain, and felt the beckoning call of Reed's Peak. I left Bald Mountain at 10:15 am and reached the summit at 11:05 am. May just be my new favorite mountain. Found the mailbox stashed away under the summit cairn, and wrote my name, date, and city on one of the last pages of the spiral notebook I found inside. The last page in that book had been signed in 1999. It looked as if it had endured much weather since being deposited there 10 years ago. It was a beautiful day, and I didn't see a single other person attempting Reed's on a rather busy Bald Mtn Labor Day weekend.

Date Climbed: Aug 10, 2009

Beautiful hike! We arrived at the trailhead at 8:55am, made it to the summit in under an hour. Didn't see a soul the whole time, with the exception of a curious mountain goat that hung around the summit the whole time we were there. Great views in all directions! Such a great, fun hike!

DeanNeat area  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 1, 2009

The parking area was packed and so was the trail. A popular trail but yet that didn't alter the superb views. A bicycle event was going on down on the highway so I didn't go over and get Murdock like I thought I would and I also had planned to re-visit the county highpoint and check the register. That'll wait for another day (mid week a better choice).

KadeeA Couple Times  Sucess!

I've hiked Bald a couple of times. I think I was complaining about it being a hard hike the first time I did it in '05. Went back in June of '08 and I couldn't believe that I was complaining the first time; it was a fun, very easy hike.

An easy 40 minute trek from the pass. Got a chance to photograph a mountain goat up close on the summit. Spectacular views everywhere. Downclimbed the north-west ridge to climb Reids Peak, Bald Mountain's next door neighbor.

Nice, short hike with great views of nearby mountains and lakes in the Uintas. It was our 10-month old boy's first real mountain summit. See "Start 'Em Out Young" trip report for details.

Climbed up the standard trail and then down the other side to the saddle between Bald and Reid's Peak with Marauders. The sunrise from the summit was incredible.

This is a fun, short hike that is suitable for everyone. The views are outstanding. Consider this a necessary hike when in the Uintahs.

Sunday morning hike... Didn't see many people and had summit to ourselves. One of the best "bang for your buck" hikes in Utah. Got to the bottom in time for the thunderstorms rolling in from the moisture from hurricane Dean.

This mountain was really easy but also rocky! The view of all the lakes from the top are great.

rayrayCrowded summit, good views  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 1, 2007

It would be very tough to find an easier summit at this elevation. Did this on a Wednesday morning and it got very crowded. 3 miles roundtrip with great views of the surrounding ranges as well as numerous lakes. Well worth the time if you're looking for a quick one or just passing through, as I was.
