ZeeJayInteresting peak  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Nov 7, 2009

11/7/2009 Challenging hike due to conditions as the snow obscured the BIG holes between the gigantic boulders in the vicinity of Upper Red Pine Lake.

10/5/2003 With Joyce H.
5/21/2003 It's much better to do this one in the spring than fall.
6/3/2000 Should have had crampons but didn't.
7/10/1999 With MM. Also did Pheifferhorn.
8/18/1991 With lesdubois.

ambrose13Silver Lake trail to east ridge.  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 1, 2009

A long day hike from Silver Lake Flat. Saw lots of wildlife, a moose, deer, wild grouse, beavers and a mountain goat. There is a nice spring still running this late in the year just above Silver Lake Glance to drink from on the way up and back. An exciting and challenging scramble from the east ridge. The only sketchy section being a very steep chute of loose rock and dirt near the top of the east ridge before the route veers northerly towards the true summit.

GahugafugaE Ridge  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 4, 2009

Went up the E Ridge with a goodly amount of snow remaining from 9800' on up in White Pine basin. I descended the NW face through a maze of large boulders until finding several hundred feet of snow to glissade.

The summit area and east ridge were loads of fun. Traversed from Pfeifferhorn on my way over to Red Baldy. Pics and map at http://www.willhiteweb.com/index_144.htm

PocketsOfBlueSki mountaineering: North Ridge  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 3, 2009

Summited as part of an arduous ski mountaineering day. Started from White Pine TR at 8:15, skied into White Pine fork and trended NW until I switchbacked up to the N Ridge. Eventually the skis came off and I booted it up the ridge to the summit.
Was socked in the whole day, causing me to accidentally descend a ridgeline to the south rather than the east...turned into a seven-hour epic with a bonus ascent of Red Baldy.

I usually do this peak in combination with Red Baldy, I've done well over a dozen climbs. I have lead a hike for the WMC called Red White Red White, about 10 times going up Red Pine to White Baldy, to Red Baldy and Down White Pine. I also have a White Red Silver Combo, climbing the South West Ridge via the Silver Flats area traversing to Red and the descending past Silver Glance and Silver Lakes, I've done that route twice.

WasatchvoyagePfiefferhorn, White Baldy.  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 14, 1993

My cousin Dave and I joined up after work and hustled up to the Pfiefferhorn via Red Pine, then jogged over the ridge east to White Baldy. Lost a toenail from wearing the wrong shoes on the descent. Very fun combination hike via Red Pine!

Ascended via Red Pine lakes in beautiful weather. I attempted to traverse to Red Baldy and out via White Pine, but I neglected to study the route beforehand, and couldn't find a viable way down without getting cliffed out. Fun!

Ammon HatchSpringtime Fun  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 31, 2008

5/30/09 Went back and ascended the line I glissaded last year. It was as fun as I thought it would be. I continued on to Red Baldy and down White Pine. That ridge is quite the scramble, made more interesting by the spring snow.

5/31/08 What a great climb. The high snow year made for tons of snow still in upper Red Pine. This was a very beautiful sight. We ascended the west ridge, and I picked a glissade line down the north face just west of the summit. The line I picked might make a fun spring ascent line as well.

Hiked this several times, though have only skied it one time, maybe four years ago now: Off the skier's right on the Red Pine side.

This was my first time climbing White Baldy even though I have been near the mountain several times. I went up the Northeast Ridge and descended the West Ridge. I really like the scrambling on this peak. White Baldy is just as interesting as the Pfiefferhorn but is climbed less often.

The ridge between red and white baldy was really fun as was the north ridge to upper red pine lake that we took down. Excellent views. Definitely an under appreciated peak.

Moogie737First summit of the Red/White/Red/White variation  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 14, 2008

My second time at the summit. With Brent and Lana leading out, we reached the summit in 2+40 (7-17-07). This was part of our Red White Red White climb. So we scrambled the ridgeline over to Red Baldy, then found a route down to White Pine. This entire exercise took us 7+30. A really great hike. My third time on the summit was the result of a trek from the Granite Flats Campground, up to the top of Box Elder Peak, and then north along the entire ridgeline to the summit of White Baldy. It took Brent, Kim, Lana and me 7 hours to reach the White Baldy summit. That ridgeline is a classic. 5-13-08 Fourth time was a snow climb in combination with a summiting of Pfeifferhorn. From the summit of the Pfeiff to the summit of White Baldy was 2+30. This entire exercise took 10+45 from White Pine TH and back. Fabulous snow conditions for May 13th. Fifth time (6-14-08) was a repeat of the Red/White/Red/White climb which adds Red Baldy and a descent to below White Pine lake. A WMC hike led by Lana, it took 8+25 and was fabulous to the max because of excellent consoidated snow conditions and a bluebird day.

CurtFun scramble  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 30, 2007

Did this solo. *Great* fun! I walked up to Red Pine then scrambled up onto the ridge between Red Pine and White Pine, gaining the ridgeline probably just above the 11,000 ft contour. Some moves were real attention-getters. I saw several goat wallows along the way. Had a brief stare-down with one of the goats just short of the ridge. I wish I could move over rough terrain the way they do!

Awesome views from the summit. I particularly enjoyed the views of Timp. I'm relatively new to the SLC area, and this was a great summit for helping me figure out where stuff is.

Date Climbed: Jun 10, 2007

Solo.
What a fantastic hike! I believe this mountain is underappreciated. It doesn't have the pointy prominence of nearby Pfeifferhorn, but is only 5 feet shorter and has excellent scrambling and a variety of snowy ascent options.

I climbed up the smaller of the two main snowfields leading to the east ridge, dropped to the south side eventually to avoid the increasing exposure and saw a black bear lumber across. Regained the ridge just west of the summit via a notch. Descended down the main "couloir" into Red Pine.

A wonderful adventure.

merrellROUTE; Upper Red Pine and West Ridge  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 21, 2006

Beautiful views of north end of Utah Valley and Utah Lake and surrounding mountains. Desended the north ridge bordering White Pine for a short distance, then to east side of upper Red Pine Lake. Did hike with "bignick". The view of White Baldy from the towns of American Fork and Lehi will give you an idea of how awesome this hike is.
