colinpencefantastic wildflowers!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 7, 2004

Although it is a long hike into the Gore Range area, it is well worth the effort for the scenery and views that you get.

Climbed with the "usual suspects" and really enjoyed relaxing in the fields of wildflowers.

Timothy PearlGreat day via SW face.  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 28, 2009

With Eric H. Woke up to a gorgeous morning at treeline after doing Powell the day before. Headed up the SW Face route (Cooper). Super fun time, not a cloud in sight. Loved not seeing a soul above treeline for two days.

A pretty dam asthetic line. Good snow climb with a great rock finish.

Date Climbed: Jun 23, 2007

Climbed the south face route described in Dave Cooper's Colorado Snow Climbs. Brought a rope & pro as recommended but conditions warranted neither. Descended standard SW couloir route and thought it was much more asthetic than our ascent route.

hiked solo up to the waterfall and camped in basin right below C-peak - climbed up to summit via couloir early in the morning and climbed down another snowfilled couloir to basin below Kneeknocker Pass

Great day. Solo all the way. Beautiful morning. Made it to first basin by 9am. Its a good idea to go to up through the furthest back couloir. It puts you at a short straight traverse for the main section. made summit by 1030. then sat on my butt and slid all the way down both couloirs. took about 10min to get back to lower basin. Awesome climb, c prime looks intense.

One of Colorado's great peaks. Pretty steep sustained class 3 scrambling to the top with some routefinding.

Got up right below the summit to turn around and see a huge storm rolling in. Several nearby lightning shots and a dab of 3/4 inch sized hail later, we made it to tree line just in time. Must try again soon.

This was maybe the most important summit for me in my early climbing career - such a cool, remote, challenging peak. It helped me develop a love for the wild peaks and lesser travelled ranges.

Came over from C Prime by dropping down a nasty gully that connects to the Southwest Couloir and then went over to the West Face for a short scramble to the top.

Jim and I climbed Peak C after we first ascended Peak D and C-Prime along the Ripsaw Ridge. I was a little surprised to encounter more loose rock on this peak than most peaks in the residing area. Sure is nice to look at from Piney Lake.

Great peak, isolated location. Love the Gores. See www.Theronwelch.com for great Gore info. I climbed this peak w/my two best buddies. What a bloody good couple days out. Loads of fun and a GREAT snow climb!!

Aaron JohnsonRoute Climbed: West Ridge & Face Route Date Climbed: 9-18-2004

Mtnhiker13's date below is incorrect. We climbed this great mountain on THE final reasonable and dry day of the season. Remnants of hurricane Javier then moved in and drenched Colorado in rain and snow, followed by a Canadian cold front. We were lucky to get Peak C in such a tiny window. 3 previous attempts over the course of 4 years were thwarted by weather. Another attempt this year, turned into a "recon" mission, set the stage for this successful climb, which was "squeezed" into our San Juan vacation.

Peak C is a great mountain, but it's steep and not for the inexperienced. Beginners should stay clear of this mountain and climb with experienced folks on steep Class 3 terrain before attempting Peak C.

2007: Climbed again with Randy and Sharon Breunlin in iffy conditions. Got down quick. Great day!

Enjoyable fall day to climb this mountain. Second attempt this year and we were weathered out last year so it was nice to finally summit. One of the nicest summit rocks to sit on I have seen - very comfortable. Great views of Powell and the rest of the Gore range from there. Nice fall colours in the Piney Creek drainage.

shannarae2kRoute Climbed: Coulier Date Climbed: August 7, 2004

Absolutely stunning area - The hike up the coulier from the basin was steep and not solid. We were attempting to pioneer a new route, but got turned around due to weather. Planning a return trip in September. The fall colors should be amazing by then!

A superb day. The weather gods were kind to us and opened up a short window of calm, clear conditions in an otherwise unsettled, stormy, and electrically charged weekend. Snow conditions were excellent for step-kicking and we did not use our crampons. The rock summit ridge definitely captured our attention. The views in all directions are stupendous.

I climbed with Nelson and Lawrence via the couloir. This was my first time on a snow climb and my first time with class 4 scrambling. I had blast - the most fun I've had on a mountain to date!

xskier77Route Climbed: North Basin/South Ridge Date Climbed: June 1, 2002  Sucess!

Climbed this peak with the Colorado Mountain Club's Basic Mountaineering School. It was a very long intense day and we ascended two couloirs. While on the summit a lightning storm was brewing so we were only on top for about 3 seconds and then turned around. The entire day took over 16 hours.

truchasRoute Climbed: Kneeknocker Pass Date Climbed: July 5, 2003  Sucess!

Wow, what a day! Did we pioneer a route up Peak C? It is possible. The only route I have read up Peak C was not from Kneeknocker Pass. I almost turned around but then decided to go for it. With a lot of routefinding we finally made the summit. Was it worth it or what. The views of the Gores and Ripsaw Ridge were spectacular.
