rfboltonTwo climbs from Robin Lakes  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 15, 1998

Before I started peakbagging, the Robin Lakes were my favorite repeat destination, and twice while up there I decided to do Trico, the last time being in '98. Fantastic scenery.

Still one of my favorite backpacking destinations. Saw at least a dozen goats at the lakes and naked people in the potholes!

Better than expected views. Hot and long day but definitly worth it. Saw none of the talked about goats until nearing the summit of Trico.

jtschanz and I started from upper Robin lake and followed one of many faint trails. Great scenery, one wonders why the beatiful lakes are called potholes, they sure don't deserve it! The trail steepens towards the summit. Impressive rock walls to the east and north. Descended off trail the extension of the ridge towards north and down to Trico lake. From the lake continued bushwhacking through the Trico creek drainage all the way down to PCT. Not recommeded for day hikers as falls are encountered down stream.

Fun scramble from our campsite on upper Robin Lake. The scramble route is very easy, yet this mountain has an impressive granite east face. I wonder if anyone has put up any routes? We carried our packs up to the summit, then went cross-country down to Trico Lake. Getting back to the PCT from Trico Lake involved an adventurous bushwack along a creek gully. Overall a great weekend in the mountains.
