nice views of Longs Peak Date Climbed: Jun 18, 2005
A lot of bushwhacking, but fun.
One of the memorable aspects of this climb was arriving at the summit and watching some technical climbers with ropes coming up from the other side who were startled by our presence.
We climbed with several "flatlanders" who were visiting from Kansas.
Hiked with Andy (see below) and three other SP'ers. The views from the top were dramatic, but we were chased down by some building storms. The ramble along the entire ridge to Storm Peak might make for an interesting day.
Due to unstable weather in the region we scrapped our previous plan and hiked up Half Mountain as a consolation prize. We managed to find some 3rd class scrambling along the ridge proper. The hike was fairly boring but the views from the top of Glacier Gorge were nice.
I hiked up the North Long's Peak trail to the Boulderfield. From there I climbed Mt. Lady Washington and then met frieds at the Keyhole. They were doing a traverse of the peaks and had come up and over Meeker and Longs. We then climbed Storm and and over to Half Mountain. To maintain the line of the traverse we decended an awful bushwhack down the ridge of Half Mounatin in the dark to the North Longs Peak trail.

Nice day in Rocky Mountain National Park. Fantastic view of Longs Peak and the Glacier Gorge area. I would climb this mountain again. Wear long pants if you are going to bush wack!
