| I was amazed at how large the bald is. It was a cold day on the summit but the views were great. I plan to do the hike sometime in the month of June so I can see the azelea blooms. | |

| Some snow left over, rain/fog/clouds moved in, obscuring summit view. Nice to be out. Hiked with people I worked with in Yellowstone in 04 and 05. | |

| Party of 7 incorporated Gregory Bald into a 2.5 day/2 night hike from Fontana Dam to Twenty Mile Ranger Station. Great winter views; 4-8 inches of snow with up to 24 inch drifts on Gregory Ridge. | |

| Climbed the Gregory Ridge trail with my sister and her fiance. We had a great hike although it was a bit long. No snow down low but 2-3 inches at the higher elevations. the trail is really easy. All in all this was an easy hike compared to the terrain I am used to in New England. Nice views from the bald. | |

| Hiking with Troop 787 from Carrollton, Texas, our patrol of 7 was supposed to camp the first night at Gregory Bald. We had a late start and by 7:00 PM the Scout Master decided to stop for the night on the trail at a switchback. My son and I hiked up to the Gregory Bald campsite to look for water. We passed through Parson Bald on the way and encountered a large black bear while we were eating "his" blueberries. We rushed out of there and on to the Gregory Bald campsite. Not finding the water source (at Moore Springs Shelter: our map wasn't very good), we hiked back to our patrol singing loudly in the moonlight to warn away the bears. I found that hiking up that mountain with a full pack is every bit as taxing as hiking in the Rockies, only much more humid! | |

| Nice sunny bald (my first) after a damp night at the AT shelter (Birch Spring shelter?). Impressive that this is 5000' and there is full-on forest. Offends by New England sensibilities. | |
