sarah.simonFrom Bush Mountain Camp

We awoke at Bush Mountain Camp and summitted this pleasant, gentle peak while our frozen water bags melted in the sun. When we woke that morning, the temperate was 25 degrees F., and the sun had already been up for a bit. Brrrrr. 15-degree sleeping bag my ass... Continued on that day to Hunter Peak, then back to "civilization" via the Bear Canyon Trail.

eric-grizMore than once.  Sucess!

I've hiked up to Bush Mountain 2 or 3 times. There's wreckage of a B-24D bomber on the eastern slope off the ridge on the Bush Mountain Trail.

BigPsycheDadeeUp the Bush Mtn. Trail  Sucess!

Climber on the Bush Mountain Trail from Pine Top campsite early morning on a windy and cold March day. The Summit was more rounded and less dramatic than some others in the area.

Climbed Bush Mountain as day hike from Pine Springs. I was a little suprised at how long it took to summit after leaving the Tejas Trail.

This was part of a 3-day backpacking trip we took a few years ago. The first night, we packed up Bear Canyon and stayed at the Tejas Trail. Then we went along the Blue Ridge Trail and climbed the north side of Bush Mountain - and I remember it had a few false summits - and then camped at Bush Mountain the second night before hiking back to Pine Springs on the last day. This was probably the roundest and broadest summit I've ever been on outside of the Jemez Mountains in New Mexico.
