Tagged The Cleaver first from the west face, then descended the Cleaver's NW ridge for a quick dip at Tulainyo Lake before ascending the south slope of Tunnabora. About 4.5 hours from Whitney Portal. Ran into Charles at Tunnabora's summit. | |

| Carillon-Tunnabora-Russell-Whitney-Muir dayhike out of Whitney Portal. Russell-Carillon Col via the Rockwell Variation was a bit of a slog--I wish I'd thought to try Cleaver Col. Tunnabora took longer than I was expecting from Russell-Carillon Col, too--the peak is only a mile from the col, but it manages to squeeze a surprising amount of talus and sand into that distance! | |
