Date Climbed: Aug 12, 2008

Came up with Kirt and the boys for a 4 day backpacking trip that didn’t quite work out like we planed. We camped next to the lake and headed out the next morning. We made it over half way up and Kirt was out for the count and went back to camp and my son and I went up to the peak. Came back to camp and packed out.

My wife and I carried our kids up so I guess I'm signing in for 4. Windy, a bit chilly for July and a wife wondering why I took her up such a boring summit. I'm almost wondering why myself. Pictures, map of route and report at http://www.willhiteweb.com/index_367.htm

WasatchvoyageRainy but worth it.   Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 26, 2009

After ignoring the weather forecast, I decided to hit up this peak during the early a.m. The rain really was pouring down during the drive up, however with the rock in the roads and the added luxury of 4WD it was doable. I chilled in the truck for an hour before heading out, letting the rain subside somewhat. The hike up was un-eventful other than seeing the clouds float by like locomotives. The summit area was fairly swampy from all of the current precipitation. On the way down I saw a herd of Mountain Goats, and down lower in the forest an abundance of deer. Just as I got back to the truck the rain started pouring again. June is an awesome time in the Uinta Mountains, very scenic.

Nice hike on a nice fall day with Moogie737 and Brent. It took 2 tries to get to the trailhead. We made it almost as far as Park City only to be towed back to Salt Lake at which point we tried again in a different car.

Moogie737North approach from Spirit Lake  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 7, 2008

With Brent and Zeejay made it to the "rounded" top in spite of 4" of new snow. Even found the Forest Service marker at the high point. Bagged Dagget Peak en route. The snow made scrambling rather tricky at times. Beautiful day!

I don't recommend puking your way up as a means of transportation. Must have been the Arby's from the day before...
Ended up going home early, putting a damper on what was supposed to be a 4 day backpack trip with the kids.

I enjoyed this hike. After hours on the dirt road behind cowboys herding cattle I finally made it to the trailhead. Most of the road in has been burned on both sides from the Neola Fire. I think it probably took me two hours to do it roundtrip. I saw several deer, 4 mountain goats on the summit and best of all a bear cub ran in front of my Jeep on the way in, didn't see his momma though!

The hike itself isn't extremely exciting, but on our hike in past Chepeta Lake and some marshy areas we spotted three moose feeding in the lakes.

An interesting area with friendly folks at Chepeta Lake. They wanted to know how a Washingtonian knew about this lake. I could only smile as I knew that trying to explain my county highpointing quest would be looked upon as rather strange.

My partner on this effort was Dennis Poulin.

The climb was more of a hike with a lot of talus negotiating.

Windy on the top and the highest point was at the shelfter with the witness BM.

nebbenRoute Climbed: Papoose Lake Date Climbed: August 20, 2003  Sucess!

Not much of a summit, but more of a high altitude plateau/rounded bump. The navigation is simple, and the crowds are small again for a UT county highpoint. I almost got zapped on the way down after running nearly full tilt to get back to Papoose lake. The Uintas would seem to be a good place for a back to the future movie with all the lightning in summer...

The approach road is long and a little bumpy, but otherwise very scenic from Roosevelt.

Other than having nothing but County High Point grabbing to do this morning the hike is anticlimactic.

Flat summit. I would really live to traverse the entire ridge from Gilbert in winter some day.
