Date Climbed: Jul 17, 2009

Made it to Signal Knob in just under 2 hours, set up camp at the 2nd campsite to the end of Signal Knob. Surprised not to see another soul until 9AM the next morning. Beautiful hike up the ridge with great views of Buzzard Rocks. Definitely will return when the trees don't block most of the view from Signal Knob.

This hike is great. Did it in about 4.5 hours with minimal stops. Didn't see a single person on the way up but many on the way down. Next time I will camp and spend some more time up there.

A great overall hike. We did the 10.5 mile loop in about 5 hours. The ice/snow wasn't bad but there was enough to make things look nice. Added bonus, we only saw three other people on the trail.

Buz GroshongDone it many times

I've usually done it in the loop from Elizabeth Furnace; a great hike. Much better that doing it from the Powell's Fort/Little Passage Creek trailhead.

It was nice to bag signal knob. Really the only reason to hike this mountain is to say, "Hey, i hiked that mountain", when you pass below it on I-66. Signal Knob looks imposing from the interstate, but its quite easy to hike from Powell Fort/Little Passage Creek trailhead. Views of the ever-developing Great Valley are okay, but you're better off hiking somewhere in the Shenandoahs or closer to WV.

Nice views- particularly in winter. Can be a little crowded sometimes.

I like to mountain bike in the GW forest, and twice I have taken my bike to the top of Signal Knob (it requires some carrying). I visit did it the summer of 1999, and again in summer 2002.

I've climbed Signal Knob on numerous occasions. Great views of the Shenandoah Valley. Also some good mountain biking in this area.

Very nice view down over the Great Valley of Virginia. I can see Ciros Pizza in Strasburg from here! Mmmmm. Pizza!
