bc44caesarNorth Face  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 3, 2010

Climbed Northwest Ridge from Haypress Meadows and skied the North Face from just below the summit rocks. One of the best ski descents I've done, and a great 3 day tour with Jeannie, Jason, and Scott!

Beautiful clear day. Snow mostly gone on the trail except for a bit at the top of the ridge. Lillies sprouting but not in bloom yet.

1000Pks28X, Snow still  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 17, 2009

Trail up from Camp Sacramento about 95% bare to 8,000 feet elevation, then mostly solid snow from there. Saw a few backpackers, had the top to myself. Sure beats 100+ degrees in the CV!

Very nice, warm day for the end of October. Fall is definitely my favorite time in the Sierra. Headed over to Mt. Baldy and Cup Lake to check things out. There was some limited but decent climbing on the ridge between the peaks. Fun day.

As nice as a Tahoe peak can be. Smoke's all gone, and back to the usual great views. Maybe only 12 hikers on the south slopes trail on a Saturday.

same as squishy. if you gain the ridge and stay on it right after Becker Pk you're rewarded with many mini bouldering problems along the way. makes the going slower but it sure beats bushwhacking and slogging!

SbrandeDesolation Refutation  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 7, 1992

The hike from Camp Sacramento was steady uphill but worth it with a Summit view of Desolation (anything but) Wilderness that made me sad I wasn't going further.

Up from Camp Sacramento. Amazing mild conditions, all or most prior snow melted. Almost T shirt weather on top. Slight breeze on the summit, really nice! Few other hikers. Looks like all trails in the Tahoe Basin are still dry and snowfree.

squishyEast ridge  Sucess!

Climbed east ridge, looped back down to the PCT on the way out. 10 miles, 8 hours. The east ridge is a whole lot of bush whacking and very slow going.

k2linkGreat day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 14, 2007

A warm day in the Sierras. I was on a fairly tight time schedule (a wedding in Sacto at 4:30 pm). From my car to the summit and back in 4 hrs/10 mins. It was a great day, and I felt good. The views, stunning as always, though I was surprised by the low water level in Lake Aloha.
