| Rained non-stop from the moment we left the car until 3 or 4 in the morning. The next day was partly cloudy, but dry. The peak provided no views from its summit because of a cloud that capped the top 200 feet or so. Still a gorgeous area. Oh yeah, tons of horse droppings along the trail to the lake. | |

| The National Forests had been closed in Northern NM for the past couple of months due to fire danger, so when they finally re-opened I jumped in my car and headed north from ABQ for a short overnight trip. I camped at Pecos Baldy Lake and climbed the peak just before the sun set on 2 Jul 2002. | |

| Climber early in the morning from our camp at the lake. A small herd of bighorns was waiting for us at the top. They were very obliging and stayed quite close, posing for their portraits. | |
