Date Climbed: Sep 2, 2009

gorgeous, breezy day atop the summit. traversed to Bishops Cap after summit of Pollock. returned to Pollock, and rather than climbing back up to the summit, we followed a wide, scree-covered ledge at the base of the cliffs west of the summit block. very easy walk all the way back to saddle between Pollock and Piegan; simple, scenic descent down to Piegan Pass from there.

Beautiful day except for 50 mph winds trying to blow me off the exposed summit. Took the south face cleft, which was a lot of fun, then hopped over to Piegan Mountain before dropping back down to Going to the Sun Road.

From Lunch Creek up to and through the Great Cleft. Sunny, gorgeous day in Glacier National Park with absolutely NO WIND on the Piegan-Pollock saddle. Summitted with Cougar14 and Kitty, Pollock is a fun climb!

Climbed with Rebelgrizz and JFK. Climbed the Great Cleft which was an interesting and fun climb. The summit was closer than I had expected. No wind at the saddle and hardly any at the summit. Couldn't of been a better day.

Attempted Pollock after summiting Piegan 6 days earlier. The route wasn't easy to find. Fortunately, on my 2nd try I came across a couple of climbers who knew the route.

Summited Mount Piegan, returned to pass and attempted Pollock, but failed. Couldn't find the stupid route and vow to return and vanquish the dastardly Great Cleft, mark my words!

Interesting route finding excursion! Fun chimney to climb through - definitely takes some flexible muscles and limbs! Helps if you have a small backpack so you don't get hung up.

Climbed with Fred , Moni and Vern. Fred - thanks for the great route finding! Couldn't have done it without you!

Climbed with Moni & Fred Spicker, and Ellen Ritt. The "Cleft" through the cliffs is fun, and well worth it; summit views are GNP-terrific! Huddled just off the summit through a short thunderstorm--minimum rain (fortunately), but not so minimum lightning not so far away (actually, it was all too close)! Continued on to Bishops Cap, and more glory.

All this, on my birthday--The first of two GNP summits in one day: WHADDA PRESENT!

With Fred, Vern Garner and Ellen Ritt. A very fun climb but the route is a little hard to find. Got caught in a thunderstorm on the summit - not so fun. Views of the Logan Pass area from the summit are great.

Fred SpickerRoute Climbed: North Ridge and Great Cleft Date Climbed: 4 August 1979, 3 August 2002, & 1 September 2004  Sucess!

2004 with Moni Spicker, Ellen Ritt, and Vernon Garner via the Great Cleft Route. We were caught in a short but violent thunder storm on the summit. We sat it out without incident below the top and continued our traverse to Bishops Cap descending the North Ridge of Pollock.

2002 solo. Ascended and descended the North Ridge.

In 1979 with Bob Stephan as part of a traverse of Bishops Cap, Pollock and Piegan Mountains. Ascended the North Ridge and descended the SE Couloir Route - a little hard to find from the top not having come up that way.
