| My first time on some class 3 rock. Was challenging and well worth the effort. Weather was perfect. | ||

| We climbed Boundary as part of a SAR training and a couple of us made the traverse. A bit tricky with the unconsolidated snow but fun. | ||

| If you stick close to the ridgecrest you can enjoy a nice class 3 traverse and avoid the very loose un-fun class 2. | ||

| I had grand ambitions of ticking off three DPS peaks from Middle Creek, doing a big loop around Boundary, Montgomery, and Dubois. Turned out the drive to the trailhead from Bishop took several hours, via one of the gnarliest "roads" my Subaru's negotiated to date, and I didn't get started until almost 11am, so I had to leave Dubois for another day. There was only a little moderate bushwhacking while gaining the ridge above the canyon, but the descent from Montgomery was another story. That day's pair of hiking pants had to be retired after being ripped to shreds on the way back. On the more positive side of things, the traverse between Boundary and Montgomery was fun, and seemed more like class 4 in a couple of places as I kept pretty religiously to the crest of the ridge. This was my first (and last) visit to Middle Creek. | ||

| As others on this register have said - a wonderful, exhilerating traverse. The small summit ridge makes for a real zing. 2hrs 15min round trip time, Boundary-Montgomery-Boundary. | ||

| Great climb along the ridge from Boundary (easy class 3 or harder if you want it). Climbed with cp, Day Hiker, and others. Unlike most DPS peaks this one seems a lot more like a Sierra Peak! Very enjoyable. Definitely the most interesting DPS peak I've climbed yet. Brought crampons but didn't use them. | ||

| A very enjoyable scramble over from Boundary. This fine peak deserves to be in the more-celebrated Sierra. | ||

| The Boundary-Montgomery ridge had just the right amount of snow to make the traverse interesting. I used crampons at one point for a small stretch, then took them off to continue to the summit. | ||

| Awesome two-Bagger. We had perfect weather to start, with clouds building all day. Rain chased us to the car. | ||

| Climbed with ScottyS on a day with ferocious wind, in excess of 70 knots. The unconsolidated snow on the talus made it quite slow and unpleasant. Without the snow, it would be a fun 3rd class scramble. The last 30 feet were the worst, on the lee side of the peak the snow had drifted 5-6 feet deep, and we fell through to our waists at each step, just made a long trough in the snow. | ||

| Montgomery was an additional peak I climbed on a solo trip up Boundary Peak. An early fall snow storm had left about six inches of unconsolidated snow covering the large talus on the ridge. My shins still show the scars. I'll climb this again someday if anyone wants a partner. | ||

| ScottyS | Route Climbed: Traverse from Boundary via Queen Canyon Ridge Date Climbed: December 6, 2003 ![]() | |
| Almost missed this summit for the second time in a row, but my partner Barry managed to drag me kicking & screaming (about blizzards) across the saddle. We didn't get buried or blown off the ridge, and made it back to the trailhead without mishap. Unconsolidated snow on steep 3rd class is VERY time-consuming! I still say the ridge on the south side of Trail Canyon would be shorter and easier.......maybe NEXT time. | ||
