| Me and my friend Fotis have to be the only people that climbed Vardoussia from Athens in a day trip. This wasn't the plan, of course. Some friends were spending the whole Christmas vacation on the mountain, staying in the refuge. We couldn't go from the 24th, so we thought we 'll grab our gear and go climb something in the weekend. Saturday morning we started climbing in perfect weather but bad snow (the climbing gear was already feeling like dead weight). Just before reaching the hut we met the others coming down. As it turned out, they have been stormed in for 3 days and since the conditions didn't allow for any climbing we all took the long road home (driving back through the icy road proved to be the crux) | |

| With my sister and cousin, we camped under Skorda Pitimalikou. Next day we summited, got back to the tent, packed and left. I'm never going again in the summer, man was it hot... | |

| I ascended in a group of 26 from my local club from Ath. Diakos to the huts on Saturday. Sunday morning 7 of us roped up and ascended through Portes to Megas Kambos and Korakas. After returning to the hut we all descended to Athanasios Diakos and returned to Athens (after the customary tavern pit-stop). There was snow all the way down to Ath. Diakos, a bit icy at Portes in the morning. | |
