JonBradfordRoute Climbed: Vail Pass via West Tenmile Creek Gulch Date Climbed: October 15, 2005  Sucess!

Climbed Shrine Mountain (western summit, not the crags), Unnamed 11,931, and Unnamed 11,977. There was more snow then I expected. 6-12 inches the whole way. It is a neat mountain with incredible views. The spires east of the summit look like something out of a slickrock canyon in Utah perched on a Colorado alpine summit. Very cool. I couldn't find the trail under the snow so I bushwhacked all the way down Shine Mountains north ridge. I want to come back again in the summer. Thank you Aaron.

Some great views from this one. I'll have to go back in July when the wildflowers are out. Probably should go up in winter too.

I helped build this trail! Prior to September 2002, there was an unofficial trail to the summit, so the Forest Service decided to make it an official trail. This was a project of the Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado. The trail was already there, for the most part. We just improved it by adding water bars, rock walls, turnpikes, removing vegetation and whatnot.

This is an short and easy hike with magnificent views. The trail was muddy in places thanks to some early season snow. We didn't go over to the Crags this day, we were pretty tired from trail building. Maybe some other time.

Aaron JohnsonRoute Climbed: Shrine Pass Trail Date Climbed: July 27, 1997 & July 22, 2000  Sucess!

Awesome area with an amazing view for so little effort! Lots of fun scrambling, to any difficulty you desire, on the Shrine Mountain crags. Flowers are absolutely spectacular!

Orginally climbed in 1997 and returned in 2000 because we were so impressed. The view of the Holy Cross area is excellent, as well as theTenmile and Gore Ranges. Highly recomended for any time of the year.
