First Sierra peak (before I lived in CA). Not sure of exact date.

Stuck close to the ridge during the ascent to avoid the sand trail and get in some nice class 3. Went to the false summit and traversed to summit. Couldn't find a summit register. Ran out of film before I shot toward Granite Park/Royce Lakes view--bummer!

fun, quick route (800') from Italy Pass. Great views from the top. Some sand hiking, some scrambling.

Big loop in the area bagging a few peaks. Great views and nice old summit can. Please DO NOT STEAL REGISTERS, whoever you are! Leave registers at the summit. There was no pen, so I signed in w/ blood ... haha just kidding, just scratched it in with a small pebble.

We hiked in from Honeymoon Lake. After seeing the unappealing appearance of the southwest slope, we hiked over to the west ridge. It was a fun, mostly class two route, with boulders that got progressively larger the higher we got. We couldn't find the Sierra Club register but did find an old cigar box originally placed by David Brower. Some people had taken his register to San Francisco for "safe keeping" on July 4th of this year. :( They left the cigar box.
We didn't sign the rust-stained little book they'd left as a substitute for the original register as we didn't have a pen.

Started from the Pine Creek trailhead. Long day. But not as long as I thought it would be. View from the pass and summit were spectacular.

Started from Chalfant Lakes and proceed in-front of some friends
to Italy Pass. While waiting for them decided to climb the peak.
Nice view of Granite Park area, and ended up camping at the pass for the night.

Steep snow chute on the bottom half. No crampons the snow was soft. Very loose rock. A couple of car sized boulders had fallen into the snow field a few days prior. Class 2-3

An easy three day hike with overnights at Honeymoon Lake. *High* water conditions, including a 150 ft ford at Upper Pine Lake and some dicey stream crossings above Honeymoon. Gorgeous views, one of my favorite areas in the Sierra.

Beautiful day and spetacular views along the climb. Hiked it from camp at Lower Pine Lake. This made for a longer day than anticipated, and Honeymoon Lake would probably be a more ideal place to camp.

RSN473Route Climbed: N Chute to NE Ridge Date Climbed: Aug 15, 2001  Sucess!

This route proved to be quite exciting with several sections of 3/4th class along the ridge. The N Chute is dangerously loose.

I climbed the west ridge on a trip to the Italy Lake area to climb Bear Creek Spire from the west. The ridge is a simple class 2 scramble with great views of surround peaks including Mount Dade, Mount Abbot and Bear Creek Spire.

The final stop on a Merriam/Royce/Julius Caesar dayhike. Great views, although I was more concerned at the time about making it back down through Granite Park before dark...

Day 3 of the 2004 Sierra Challenge. Five of us started out, four made it to the summit. Not a challenging peak from a technical perspective, but a nice walk through Granite Park. Trip Report
