tomlaurenFlattop - Ptarmigan Pt - Hallett - Otis  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 26, 2009

From Bear Lake, hiked up Flattop Mtn, Ptarmigan Pt, Hallett Pk, and Otis Pk, descending Andrews Glacier. Three separate boulders separated by a couple hundred feet were candidates for the high point. I measured the elevation of the top of each boulder several times and determined the central boulder to be the high point. I first hiked Flattop Mtn with my father circa 1980.

ryan_tx"Warmup" Hike  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 4, 2009

Hiked this to get better acclimatized for Elbert 2 days later. Got stormed on in the process, but ended up making it to the featureless summit. The views are worth it though.

Going from O to 12k kicked me in the rear but it was worth it.

PellucidWombatWhere is the summit?  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 28, 2009

Hiked from TH to summit via the standard trail in 1:30 hrs. Couldn't tell where the summit actually was, so I cut off from the trail junction to climb Hallet (2-2:30), and then back across the plateau to climb Ptarmigan Pt (3:00) before descending, with a RT time of 4:20 hrs. Nice trail!

IsaiahNot really a mountain  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 8, 2009

Ran from Bear lake up in 1:18 and down in 44 minutes for a total of 2:02. This is not really a mountain, but Hallets is pretty close and that looked interesting.

I really consider this part of Hallett, but whatever.

dirthFlat Top Pass?  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 4, 2009

Shouldn't this be considered a pass instead of a peak? Climbing over this "peak" is the easiest way to get across the continental divide for miles. Hiked up and over it to get to the more interesting stuff.

mtwashingtonmonroeWhat a day!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 16, 2009

Climbed this with Hallett Peak after a previous nights snow that left some interesting conditions for the trip. The trail (what you could see of it) was ice and probably 75% of it was covered in drifts. What an awesome hike it was up in snowy and windy conditions. By the time we came back down much of the trail was unveiled from the June sun. Hallett was even better!

Easy combo with Hallet makes for a nice day in the Park.

ash80Overrated  Sucess!

Flattop is pretty overrated in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Lot of talk about it but it's average compared to some of it's fun nieghbour peaks. Hallets is the real deal!

passed over it while backpacking in the park, not much of a 'summit'

My buddy Jay and I climbed Flattop when passing through Colorado on a cross-country trip. Perfect weather, great hike, unforgettable trip.

silversummitJust found I had hiked this for sure!  Sucess!

I was scanning my slides from 1975 last night and found Flattop among them. Even had some snow still that July!

Lost track of how many times up this trail. Now that I think about it, have I ever found the summit?

Escaped the rainy day on the Front Range and hiked up above the (lower) cloud deck to find the Continental Divide nice and dry, and actually warmer than the moist, miserable weather below. A quick jaunt over to Hallet from here to catch a sweet view of the Divide above the clouds.

woodsxcBackpacking  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 11, 2008

Nabbed it while backpacking. Probably one of the least satisfying peaks I've seen, but hey, it's a mountain. The view is nice, but you can get the same view anywhere in that general area.

Date Climbed: Jul 18, 2003

We climbed it on our way to Hallet Peak. It was extremely cold on Flattop and my uncle had to wait here with a marmot.
