Climbed with Blackhead and Black Dome via the Black Dome Range Trail from Big Hollow Road. Had a good time traversing the ridge from Black Dome. Thomas Cole is probably the least interesting of the Blackhead Mountains but it does offer a splendid sense of solitude.
Hit Black Dome, Thomas Cole and Blackhead from Big Hollow road. Descended Blackhead on N. side via Escarpment Trail - very icy, would have used a rope if I had brought one. Lots of fresh snow, kept snowshoes on all day.
Route Climbed: Trail in summer bushwhack in the winter Date Climbed: 8/12/95 and 2/9/97
In the summer I backpacked the entire loop from Windham high peak to T.Cole and in the winter I decided to bushwhack it solo up from the Valley (from the North). Beautiful mountain and fewer people.
Route Climbed: All and even none trails Date Climbed: 80's
Have approached from Colgate Lake, Barnum Road and Big Hollow. I've also bushwhacked over private lands from Juniper Hill road and while land surveying from the North near Ruland Road.
