vanman798From Mill Creek Canyon  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Nov 28, 2009

Climbed up via the Bowman Fork trail from Mill Creek Canyon. Enjoyed the views once I reached the saddle between Raymond Peak and Gobblers Knob. Looking south it was great to see the Cottonwood ridge. Interestingly, there was a moose feeding about 10 feet below the peak.

Did this as a twofer with Mt. Raymond from Butler Fork. Beautiful day, but the haze over SLC is always depressing.

    Date Climbed: May 27, 2004

Fun day hike! Beautiful scenery at the top in all directions. The last ten minutes or so to the summit required us hiking in the snow, which wasn't as bad as expected seeing I was in shorts. A good incline at the start, but nothing too hard. A hike I'd definitely do again.

North ridge from Bowman Fork. Skied two laps on the northwest face (summitted both times) in settled (but deep and faceshot-friendly) powder.
Also summer-hiked it with my kid brother back in '02ish.

4/23/2009 From the MC road/Bowman Fork with Moogie737. My 35th time.

3/7/2008 I started out thinking it was going to take forever since I had to break trail. But, once I hit Circle All Pass there was a nice crust and things went a lot quicker. Nice, beautiful sunny day. My 33rd time to the top. Saw no one.

This is a wonderful escape from Salt Lake at any time of the year. The hike is strenuous, but not too demanding, and the views of the surrounding peaks are wonderful.

    Moogie737Various routes  Sucess!
    Date Climbed: Nov 19, 2009

Friday the 13th turned out to be a lucky and beautiful day. We had to don crampons for the final 1,200' of the ascent. Good snow conditions allowed us to ascend the northwest side of Gobblers and to plunge and glissade nearly straight down the north side. Fifth time on the summit, second winter ascent. Add one more for the 15th of June 2007, so 6 times at the top. Make that seven. 11-20-07. From Butler Fork; no snow to speak of, and that is too bad! 11-27-07 #8 - from Bowman Fork w/ Lana. Icy spots on upper half of trail from Bowman Fork TH. 03-18-08 Ascent #9, with Brent. Tons of snow. Climbed summit ridge from the northwest all the way. 4-08-08 Ascent #10. With Brent, Lana & Dave took our "new" route, breaking trail in one foot of new powder the entire way up. Fantastic cornices were a beautiful surprise for so late in the season. 4+25 up from Bowman Fork TH (on Millcreek Canyon Road). #11 9-2-08 with Anne, Brent & Alex via Bowman Fork. Traces of the season's first snow covered much of the trail above 8,000'. #12 (1-23-08) w/ Brent, combo with a climb of Mt. Raymond. From Butler Fork TH. Wonderful fall day. 2+06 from TH to summit. #13 w/ Brent, from Bowman Fork, n.w. ridge to summit(2+10 trailbreaking in 12" of powder). 3+47 up 2+12 down. #14 with tons of new powder. With Brent, Christine & Dave. 4+12 up 2+07 down. The now-familiar snow route. #15 w/ ZeeJay on 4-23-09 Still plenty of snow on the north-facing slopes and the summit ridges. Snow route, Bowman Fork. Snowshoes the final hour up. Beautiful day. 3+12 up 1+48 down. #16 Solo via Bowman Fork. PB time to very windy pass & summit. #17 8-11-09 w/ Dave & Brent, 1st to Mt. Raymond, then Gobblers - yes, a two-fer. #18 Twofer w/ ZeeJay; Gobblers first, then Raymond, only 8" of snow along ridges.

Hiked via Mill B. Had a grand time hiking over large mounds of snow not yet melted (Texans are easily amused.)
