| Did this one in the snow, from the TH to the summit. I found myself nearly alone at the top, and picked a clear day for great views! The wind made things a little colder, but tucked back near the trees on the South-face I found great protection while enjoying the views. | ||

| Summitted My Mountain with my Dad in icy conditions. Good thing I have built in crampons. My first major mountain. Not too bad for a 28 pound 4 month old, eh? Suck it, you city Pomeranians! | ||

| Beautiful day and much less crowded then other times we've done this hike. We took the more difficult option up and stayed cool in the shade. Enjoyed amazing views of Mt.Hood and Helens along the way and enjoyed a snack at the top. The dog loved it! | ||

| Weighted down pack gave me a good workout. My girlfriend spanked me on this one (not literally). We took the 3.7 mile route that put us in the shade and snow, but it wasn't too bad. | ||

| YEM | Augspurger/Dog Loop ![]() | |
| One of the best wildflower displays I have ever seen. Continuing to Augspurger was a great idea and the best way to avoid the crowds. I came back in the winter and getting to the true summit was a lot different without a trail or even footprints. I need to explore the east side of the mountain. I've seen cliffs from I-84 that are far from the trails. | ||

| mrbynum | Memorial Day hike with all of Portland ![]() Date Climbed: May 28, 2007 | |
| Hot day, especially when starting at 11AM and still recovering from the previous nights celebrations. No shortage of people on this trail, especially at the top (rough estimate: ~200 people encountered). Following the loop which towards Augspurger resulted in significantly fewer other hikers than on the main trail. The wild flowers at the top were spectacular and worth the climb, I would recommend avoiding Dog on summer Holidays. | ||

| I took my two girls 15/11 up this time and we made it to the top after 3 hours. There were a TON of people here too, although didn't see so many on the way down. The parking lot was full with parking on the shoulders!! Glad I was the 6th car in the lot, early in the morning. The wildflowers are definitely worth the climb. | ||

| mradventure | First Ascent at 6 yrs old ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 3, 2007 | |
| What a great day and a very wonderful feeling when the weather is nice and my 6 yr old son hikes all the way up and down on Dog Mtn. As usual he needed lots of motivation, but perseverance paid off when he arrived at the summit. He was amazed at the many flowers and how small the train and cars and trucks looked way down below. Since it was the weekend, there were many hikers. A little overcast, windy, and a great view. My brother and I took along our 50lb. packs to slow us down but we still had a hard time keeping up with my son. The poison oak is ready to flower and there is lots near the trail along with small lizards running in the dirt. | ||
