Incredible summit views! Had some pretty good company along too!

edit: I stand corrected, I had complete gumbies along for company. We reached the summit none-the-less.

Winterconditions after the snow of the past wk. Because of this there were not many people on the mountain. Nice tour.

From the Boval hut. Nice scrammbling up to the col. The snow on the ridge was perfect. Then down to the Tschierva hut.

dmikiConsolation for Biancograt  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 4, 2007

As it had been raining/snowing the previous day, we had missed out on Piz Roseg, and decided against an attempt on Piz Bernina (many people made it successfully eventually). So we did an early morning moonshine repeat climb of Piz Morteratsch. We reached the glacier just as the sun was rising. The previous day's snow had generally made the going easier (there were some sections of rock covered in ice before the glacier, tricky in the dark).

Fantastic views (of teams ascending the Biancograt), but also a cold wind greeted us at the top. We met many groups on our way down - the route was pretty crowded as it was a perfect week-end.

dmikiWe were lucky with the weather  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 2, 2007

Slept late, and only started out from Tschierva Hut around 9. Made it to the top in 5 hours and back down in another 2, during which time the bad weather had moved in. Some sections above Fuorcla Boval were pretty icy.

Martin74Route Climbed: Normal from Tschierva Hut Date Climbed: 17th july 2005  Sucess!

We started from the Tschierva Hut. It is a well marked track to the glacier. From the begin of the glacier you can see the Fuorcla Boval. We descent to the Boval Hut and go on to Morteratsch. The view from the summit was brilliant.

Missed the great views from the top due to cloud! All that effort too.

Mathias ZehringRoute Climbed: normal route from Tschierva to Boval hut Date Climbed: 1989-1990  Sucess!

Two times I've done the normal route from Tschierva hut to the summit and descent via Fuorcla Boval to Boval hut:

a) August 19th 1989: with a group of the german alpine club. Perfect weather, stunning views to Biancograt ridge - I was deeply impressed by that day

b) July 31th 1990: just one year later I wanted to do Biancograt ridge with two friends but we failed because of illness of our best man. So repeating Morteratsch was only the "consolation price"
