| Sorry this is so old but was updating my profile and thought I would add this. Long day, started from Loveland pass in the dark at 5:30 AM. Made good time to the ridge to watch the sunrise. Made the summit around 10:00 AM. Descended to the saddle between Torreys and Grizzly and ascended halfway to Torreys. Had to be back in Denver by 5 so we turned around at 11:30 and made our way back. This is the only time I have gotten AMS bad. Threw up twice on the way back to the pass. Not a fun time, beautiful day though. | |

| Grizzly Peak was a bit more of an endeavor than expected; however, I probably wouldn't have thought so if it weren't for the fact that it was my son's first peak...he's 17 months old and was carried on my back the entire time. After much debate at the class 3 rock outcrop, we did move on and it turned out to be a little less arduous than it looked...but don't be fooled: it is definitely not for the inexperienced hiker. One false move on the final push and you're going for a ride that may land you in the hospital, or worse. Awesome views and no one else on the summit, although we had to hustle down due to clouds building rapidly over the divide. Gotta love Colorado! | |

| Astrobassman and I loaded up our packs and used this climb for some Denali prep training. It was cold and windy but with blue sky and sun. A great morning workout. __________________ 7/9/06 Climbed during a rainy weekend--didn't want to spend the whole weekend indoors. A nice hike in the rain and clouds. | |

| Great hike we hit every 13,000 ft point on the ridge, winds were gusting 40 - 50 temp was 30's some new snow, all in all it was GREAT! | |

| Snow was falling heavily and it was dark on the way down: "Man, those lights down there that we're walking toward seem so much further away than they really are...oh crap that's I-70, not Loveland Pass." Kind of an epic in the "early days". | |

| I've gotta say, today Grizzly Peak lived up to its name in full force: GRIZZLY. Insane winds sandblasted us with ice crystals from start to finish. Fortunately, we reached the summit during merely high winds. Suddenly, the wind kicked up a notch and we donned our backs and descended. The scenery was drop-dead gorgeous. The return trip over endless humps in cold horizontal winds quite honestly crapped me out. I was admittedly happy to reach my warm truck for the drive home. Hiking partners: John K's CMC trip. | |

| This was my first climb of Grizzly. I approached from Loveland Pass and continued on to Torreys. The weather was brewing so I descended to Stevens Gulch trailhead. I was then fortunate enough to get a ride from there back to Loveland Pass. | |
