Cold clear day, snow is not deep yet. Climbed with Ray E. Hadn't been at elevation for quite awhile so both of us were pretty gassed by the end of the day. Need to do this more often! Loveland Pass.

nice hike - almost stepped on two ptarmigans - birds weren't scarred at all (they just ignored me)and I could observe them from a yard distance

Date Climbed: Aug 18, 2007

I hadn't climbed anything in a year due to various reasons, so I found out that I was not in the best of shape, but was still fun.

Combined with Sniktau for a nice little tour of the divide from Loveland. A little under 3 hours roundtrip, including Sniktau.

Date Climbed: Jul 7, 2007

Got an early start just around 4:30 am, summited by 6:20 am and enjoyed the beautiful 360 views as long as I could stand the cold wind. The ups and downs on this hike keep the heart rate up going both directions, but it's definitely worth it and a great way to start the morning. Back to the car by 8:30 am keeping us just at 4 hours and at work by 9:30 am. Gosh I love living here!

Left the pass at 6:00am, reached the summit by 8:30. Continued on to Torrey's and made my second summit of Grizzly by noon on the return from Torrey's. This made for a long day (10 miles round trip), but a nice way to celebrate the 4th.

aahzThe ascent is fun  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 1, 2007

I climbed Grizzly from Loveland pass. Its great fun on the ascent, but the ups and downs make the return trip a little taxing (but maybe that was just the elevation since this was my acclimation hike). I was thinking about going all the way to Torreys, but after looking down the saddle I decided that would have been a miserable slog. The views are amazing, 14ers in every direction.

Chad CouchGreat day...  Sucess!

Five hours round-trip from summit to car (includes 30 minutes on the summit). Much less windy up at Loveland Pass than the previous week. Climbed alone and had the summit to myself.

Fun climb, great views, but the sun reflecting off the snow felt like an oven.

What can I say? Great views. A straightforward climb done in 6 hours roundtrip at a liesurely pace. Afternoon snow showers made for an interesting descent.

A great day as Bernard Hohman and I withstood some wicked winds. It was great training with a heavy pack.

We were the first car at Loveland Pass. Hiked over Sniktau on the way to Grizzly Peak. According to my wind gauge, sustained winds were 72 mph--just under hurricane force.

Dan DaltonAwesome Views, Nice Climb  Sucess!

Snow at the bottom of was quite deep! However the snow became more ice like and harder near the top, occasionally having large spots where the was no snow at all. Very Very Windy. Did this solo.

The day started well enough, but increasingly high winds made the ridge traverse a pain. C’est la vie. The views were great and the climbing was straight forward.

Did this as a training hike for Holy Cross. Hiked with about 30 lbs untill Grizzly's peak saddle. Dropped the weight and ascended. Nice short hike easily bagging 2 thirteeners. Great hike, loved it.

I've been on Grizzly in Summer, Winter and Spring. It's a great spot from which to have a look around.

Tried to skin up from Loveland Pass. Finding continuous snow was difficult and what snow there was had a terribly punchy wind crust. Ended up bailing on my skis for the final climb up to the summit. Beautiful weather though.
