wyopeakMikeparty peak  Sucess!

I hiked and scrambled up to the summit a few times in the 90's with some friends. One time we brought a boom box and we ate some strange fungi(back in the party days). That was some wild memories of hanging out on the summit turret.

Darren9high point of the pass  Sucess!

The first time I climbed this peak it was in winter, and I was pleased to see it was so close and lots of options for daytrips of all sorts. A great training peak.

Date Climbed: Feb 18, 2006

Reached the summit three times, twice during summer and once at winter in my snowshoes (absolutely love the scrambling towards the end). Can't wait to take our 1 1/2 year old son there again!

Climbed up the col in the middle with aahz and his wife. The col sucked, it gets too much sun and was soft with rocks. Fun climb anyway. We free soloed to the top of the highest turret, snow wasn't much of a problem. Extremely hot day for January, aahz was baking with a base layer while my uninsulated feet we're cold in the deep snow. We used snowshoes to traverse through the trees and deep snow to the base of the col. Crampons and axe in the col, there was lots of rocks and mixed terrain while post holing and the rock on the turret was more solid than I expected...

Do I still get credit for a winter ascent if it was 40 degrees on the summit? Entertaining scramble while my partner watched from below. Despite the warm weather it was a fun couple of days of snowshoeing.

SummitJunkieGreat climb with family  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 30, 2008

Took my girlfriend and her family from Wisconsin up to the summit. Footing is VERY treacherous most of the way up, BE CAREFULL! Mom slipped about 100 feet from top and banged up her knee but made it down ok.

Ski tour to Castle and then over to Andesite with V. Skipped the East Turret, didn't look that appealing in AT boots...

squishyin the snow  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 9, 2008

We climbed castle with crampons to get a feel for them, my 1st time using crampons. Everyone on the mountain was using snowshoes or skis and they were moving much faster. Once the snow melted later in the day we had to keep to the packed trails but it was completely doable. Great views from the top..
