colinpencegreat loop trip  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 24, 2006

The "usual suspects" and I did the entire loop, and had a great day. One of the highlights of this trip was seeing a huge group of elk on the ridge in the distance.

lovely autumn day hiking the loop, east to west, with jamie and prakash. a little bit of snow higher up made a few short glissades possible descending the northwest slope of west buffalo.

Date Climbed: Jul 1, 1990

We took a church group of teenagers on a wilderness outing. They all opted to fish while Mike and I climbed the Buffalo peaks from the West. And yeah we had to reclimb West Buffalo to get back. Oh well...

shknbkeEast & West via 4 mile Creek trail  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 17, 2007

Climbed the Buffalo Peaks from the winter closure gate way down at 9160' using only a short distance of the 4 Mile Creek trail. We ended up bushwacking to the summit of WB as there was less snow in the trees. Very cool traverse to East. These peaks rarely get climbed in winter b/c of road closures.

Date Climbed: Oct 22, 2006

Climed these peaks together from the west via Fourmile Road outside of Buena Vista. Great views of the Sawatch, Northern Sangre and Mosquito Ranges. Cold and windy day, but definitely worth it!

Date Climbed: Jun 24, 2006

Climbed both summits, east to west, returned via the very good but sketchy trail in the basin below for a nice loop. Bushwacking was not too bad. Great views and great time! Saw a sheep and her baby on the first summit. Saw 60 head of elk as we approached the firs summit above timberline. Been wanting to climb these mountains for years. Finally got around to it. Loved them both! The ridge scramble to the west summit was very fun. Climbed with my IU hiking group and Ms Ellen.

This is my 4th time up,but this time I climbed with my wife Rene and our pomeranian dog Olivia who made it up to the top never needing to be carried once.It was spectacular as always, we saw a elk herd of f the back side in a meadow. I also found a 6 point elk antler drop fron ths season in beautyful shape that was a plus. Hope to do it again some day, this was my 50th birthday yr. so I hope to go again befor I'm 60.

miztflipRoute Climbed: Standard from Buffalo Peaks Road Date Climbed: 4 July 2005  Sucess!

What an awesome outing. A last minute change of plans for the holiday weekend landed us on the Buffalo Peaks. We hiked both summits along with UN 12,644 which was an added treat. Erin and Ryan names from last year were the most recent on the UN's summit log. We lucked up and made all the right turns on the old logging roads making for a problem free day.

JonBradfordRoute Climbed: Buffalo Loop Date Climbed: August something, 2002  Sucess!

Climbed both East and West Buffalo Peak summits in mid august of Colorado's driest year. The mountains were quite enjoyable. I regret that between only having a 16 mb memory card for the digital camera and dealing with latent smokiness from forest fires my photos fail to give the mountains their proper due. I had a blast none the less. Along with me were my dogs Sopris and Raymond. Jon Bradford
