Mt. Barbeau might be a relatively small mountain but I've never felt more isolated and tranquil then on the top of Barbeau. It truly has one of the most stunning views of any peak I have climbed and I've climbed alot including Rainier, Denali, and Aconcagua to name a few. You can feel the desolation to your bones on this mountain which you can't find on any of the bigger more popular mountains. Barbeau is truly an ice gem that I hope always maintains its wild uninhabited feel. It was genuinely a grand adventure! See our trip report in the 2003 American Alpine Journal. I would also like to thank the AAC, Helly Hansen,REI Challange Fund, Mountainsmith, Moonstone, Mountain House, and Pete Dronkers for making the trip happen.
